Welcome to our Christmas Newsletter
With all the normal Christmas pressures compounded by the small matter of a General Election, it would be easy to forget that for some in our community there will be little in the way of Christmas cheer. However, here at Stevenage Community Trust we never forget that there are people in need of our support which is why we have, once again, provided 200 of the neediest families with gift cards this Christmas. This is only made possible by your continued generosity in supporting the Trust. On behalf of the thousands of people we have helped this year, thank you.

Next year sees our 30th anniversary and we have high expectations for another record year. With your support we aim to be even more impactful in helping some of the most vulnerable in and around Stevenage.

On behalf of Caroline and the trustees may I wish you a very merry Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year.

Bruno delivers a knockout punch for the Trust

Local businesses and supporters came together for this year’s annual Black Tie Dinner and Dance at The Priory in Little Wymondley. One the nations most loved sons, Frank Bruno MBE was our special guest for the evening.

Frank provided an honest, moving, inspirational, humorous and thought-provoking insight into his life and was then presented with a special birthday cake followed by a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday….see more

How your support has been making a difference

Since October our warm homes grants have helped 61 local people to keep warm. Here is some of the feedback we’ve received from grateful beneficiaries.

“Thank you for the grant, the client is very grateful. It will make a huge difference to him in his situation – more than likely he would have lost his home without it.” Stevenage Citizens Advice

“I really appreciate your help. I can’t explain how this will help me over the next few months as I only have one heater in my home and it will allow me to have it on longer. Thank you.”

“I am writing this letter to not only say thank you but to share how you have helped me and my family. I am currently off work sick as I had a major operation in order to help improve my disability. While I am off work my daughter has been trying to help pay for the bills in order to keep our household running. However, by receiving this cheque from you for my gas and electric I have been able to keep our house warm, which not only helps me through my recovery but also takes some of the strain away from my daughter. Before receiving this cheque, I had been bed bound as we could not afford to keep the heating on, resulting in my muscles and legs becoming stiff with cold. Now we are able to pay the bill and I am able to move around in my own home and continue with my recovery. Once again, I would like to say thank you very much for helping us and supporting me and my family at this difficult time. It has made a huge difference to us and we are so very grateful. “

Welcome
We are thrilled to welcome new members Red Brick Management and Streets Chartered Accountants whose support, along with our existing members, will be invaluable as we enter our 30th anniversary year.

With ambitious plans to help more people than even before in 2020, the vital support we receive from local businesses is integral in helping us to achieve this aim. We hope more companies will see the important role we play in the community and choose Stevenage Community Trust to manage their local giving. If you know of any local businesses who believe in giving something back to their community and may be interested in finding our more about the Trust, please pass on their details and we will ensure they receive the necessary information about our work.
