The Casey Awards celebrate individuals and organizations that demonstrate leadership in social justice and commitment to HIV/AIDS.

Opportunities for Engagement

Call for Submissions for the RHO 2022 Symposium: LGBT2SQ Health in Focus

The Rainbow Health Ontario 2022 Symposium is looking for 15-minute submissions for a panel format on the topics of:
  • Relationships with food and disrupted eating behaviours in the LGBT2SQ community
  • LGBT2SQ seniors
Panels will be 90 minutes in length, consisting of three presentations and audience questions. A moderator will facilitate the discussion.

Proposals from health and social service professionals, organizations, community activists, policy makers and researchers are welcomed, with submissions from racialized LGBT2SQ professionals and community members strongly encouraged.

The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), in collaboration with the National Collaborating Centre for Indigenous Health and the National Collaborating Centre for Infectious Diseases, wants to better understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on access to services to prevent, test and treat sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBI) including harm reduction services.

If your organization works with First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples or directly provides STBBI prevention, testing, treatment services or harm reduction services in Canada to First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples, please encourage your members/clients to take 20 minutes to complete this online survey.

The survey will be available until September 12, 2021.

OAN Annual Meeting

The OAN Annual Meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m EST, the after the OAN’s meeting of delegates living with HIV, which takes place on Monday, September 20, 2021, between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.

What to expect at this year’s Annual Meeting: 
  • Meet the OAN Board of Directors and staff
  • Get an update on the OAN's work in 2020/21
  • Help guide OAN's work in the coming year
  • Elect new members of our Board of Directors

CATIE will again be hosting an online Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 7, 2021.

CTN Call for nominations

The C4 Teams is seeking nominations for the Community Co-Lead who will help to shape the future of community engagement at the CTN. This is a volunteer leadership position akin to the CAC Chair, and not a job posting. Like CAC and other committee members successful candidates will receive an honorarium and have travel expenses covered to meetings. This is a role designated for a person living with HIV.

Community Programming

APAA's latest resource on HIV treatment featuring Lena Soje, a social worker and experienced worker in the HIV sector. In this video, Lena reflects on the importance of staying on course with HIV treatment offering useful tips on HIV treatment adherence.

ACT continues to offer a wide range of online group supports for people living with and affected by HIV in Toronto. Below is a selection of groups, programs and/or events ACT is hosting throughout August and September:

Surveys & Studies

The CBRC National Health Survey for Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Bi-Spiritual and Queer Men (GBT2Q), and Non-Binary People

The CBRC National Health Survey for Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Bi-Spiritual and Queer Men (GBT2Q), and Non-Binary People is collecting responses on behalf of  organizations across the country to advocate for better programs and resources, and will be used to inform public policy related to GBT2Q health and well-being.

New This Year: Participants (18 and older) can enter the Test @ Home program and receive free HIV rapid self-test kits for participants and / or their friends and couples.
