Community News & Information 

  The Ontario government gave notice in 2018 that the proclamation of the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA) would occur “early 2020”. However, on December 31, 2019, the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services informed us and updated their website that ONCA will not be proclaimed in early 2020.

Medicinal uses for, best practices of, and beginner's guide to marijuana for people living with HIV. Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 7 - 9 pm at  Ramada Plaza Hotel (300 Jarvis Street) A light buffet will be served at 6:30 pm. This event is accessible and admission is free!



Exploring the struggles of marginalized populations of women attaining women-centered HIV care in clinical and community settings. Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 7 - 9 pm at Ramada Plaza Hotel (300 Jarvis Street) A light buffet will be served at 6:30 pm. This event is accessible and admission is free!

JUMPSTART! Is a workshop series for gay, bi and queer men who have recently been diagnosed with HIV. Learn more about HIV treatment options, the doctor/patient relationship, sexual health and emotional wellness.
Totally outRIGHT Toronto is a Sexual Health Leadership Youth Group for Gay/Bi/Queer men focused on HIV prevention and sexual health. AQUA is having a town hall. Organized for and by queer asian femmes and gender diverse folks. Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. 1499 Yonge Street.

Project Youth Affirm is an eight session group focused on reducing stress and depression by providing practical tools for improving coping skills through CBT (cognitive-behaviour theory). Monday, January 20th to Monday March 3rd from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

HIV Basics will be offered through their blended learning program, which combines a six-week online course with a webinar meeting. Starts on February 17th, 2020 and concludes with an interactive webinar on March 23, 2020

Volunteer & Board Opportunities

The OAN is actively recruiting new Board Members! We’re accepting applications for two Director positions. One of these must be from the Northern Region and both must be people living with HIV. To apply, fill out the form (found here) and email it to by Friday, January 31, 2020 at 5:00 pm.


PWA is developing a service and support hub for individuals living with HIV/AIDS (PHAs). This new initiative will be called the PHA Hub.
Please take a few minutes to complete this survey to help us better understand how this PHA Hub can help you and those in your lives living with HIV/AIDS.
This survey  will expire after January 24th   with a chance of wining $250.
The CIHR Institute of Infection and Immunity (CIHR-III) and the CIHR HIV/AIDS Research Initiative are both in the process of developing new strategic plans for the next five years.  As part of the engagement efforts for these strategic planning processes, online surveys have been launched to seek your advice on research priorities.  To ensure your input is heard, please visit the following links:  2021-2025 III Strategic Planning survey as well as the CIHR HIV/AIDS and STBBI survey.
