COVID-19 Update


World AIDS Day

 Women’s Health in Women’s Hands CHC, the Women and HIV Research Program, Black CAP, APAA, CAAT, AIDS Committee of Ottawa, the A/C Study Team and Regent Park CHC , you are invited to attend a virtual event to commemorate World AIDS Day 2020. The event titled Working Together for a Shared Future” will highlight the strides made this past year in HIV advocacy, research and service provision. We hope that you will join us to explore this year’s theme of “Global Solidarity, Shared Responsibility” in light of the ongoing challenges and struggles facing our communities today.

Community News & Information 

 CAHR-CANFAR Excellence in Research Awards program celebrates the contributions of Canadian researchers in HIV/AIDS research in Canada and internationally.  Each year at the CAHR Conference, up to five awards are bestowed to highlight the achievements of those actively contributing to HIV research in their respective discipline. Applications for the 2021 CAHR-CANFAR Excellence in Research Awards are now being accepted.  For more information, click HERE.
The 30th Annual Canadian Conference on HIV/AIDS Research (CAHR 2021) was initially scheduled to take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in May 2021. However, given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of ensuring our member's health and safety, CAHR 2021 will be going virtual
 The School of Social Work is seeking to expand its experiential learning opportunities for students
.  Centennial College’s Office Administration (Health) program. Students attend field placements each Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the semester- January to April (14 week period) from approximately 9am-5pm, respecting individual organization’s regular office hours.
  Melissa Garcia, who is our HIV/AIDS counsellor for the year as Celeste is on a secondment. If you can please let the network know of any Spanish speaking clients or agencies that serve Spanish speaking clients in need of counselling to please feel free to refer them to Melissa at

The Ontario overdose crisis and the impact of COVID-19 December 2, 2020 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

Join us for a webinar on December 2 that will explore what various data sources in public health, drug surveillance and harm reduction can tell us about overdose and drug use trends in Ontario so far. We’ll discuss what this means for service providers and public health, and what we can expect going forward.
