Community News & Information 

  LifeLabs is a private company that conducts diagnostic tests including standard/specialized lab testing (e.g., bloodwork), genetic/naturopathic testing, and heart monitoring. On December 17, 2019, LifeLabs announced a data breach of Ontario and British Columbia customer information. The information includes name, address, email, login, passwords, date of birth, health card number and some lab test results. Media reports indicate that information of up to 15,000,000 people in Canada may have been accessed.  People living with HIV in Ontario  can contact HALCO for advice about this matter at 416-340-7790 or toll-free 1-888-705-8889.

HIV & POT: UP IN SMOKE IN THE BIG SMOKE

Medicinal uses for, best practices of, and beginner's guide to marijuana for people living with HIV. Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 7 - 9 pm at  Ramada Plaza Hotel (300 Jarvis Street) A light buffet will be served at 6:30 pm. This event is accessible and admission is free!


 

CREATING WELCOMING SPACES

Exploring the struggles of marginalized populations of women attaining women-centered HIV care in clinical and community settings. Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 7 - 9 pm at Ramada Plaza Hotel (300 Jarvis Street) A light buffet will be served at 6:30 pm. This event is accessible and admission is free!

Totally outRIGHT, a free sexual health leadership program for young gay/bi/ queer guys. Launch Party January 8, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
JUMPSTART! Is a workshop series for gay, bi and queer men who have recently been diagnosed with HIV. Learn more about HIV treatment options, the doctor/patient relationship, sexual health and emotional wellness.

The CIHR Institute of Infection and Immunity (CIHR-III) and the CIHR HIV/AIDS Research Initiative are both in the process of developing new strategic plans for the next five years.  As part of the engagement efforts for these strategic planning processes, online surveys have been launched to seek your advice on research priorities.  To ensure your input is heard, please visit the following links:  2021-2025 III Strategic Planning survey as well as the CIHR HIV/AIDS and STBBI survey.
