It is thanks to supporters like you that each year we are able to rescue thousands of victims of modern slavery, and protect tens of thousands more from the risk of human trafficking.
You can help a child like Masiko*, who was just 9 years old when she was trafficked to Uganda’s capital city. Her parents could not afford to send her to school so her uncle promised that, if Masiko moved with him to Kampala, he would enrol her at a school there.
But Masiko never began her studies. Her uncle made her do all the housework, look after his own children, and abused her physically and emotionally. When she ran away, Masiko’s parents weren’t able to get enough money to travel to the capital to look for her. And given Masiko’s uncle was unwilling to search for the missing child, her family assumed she was dead.
So, when we managed to find Masiko’s family, after caring for her in a Lighthouse, they could not believe the news. Her father fell to the floor and wept as we told him his little girl was alive, well and would be coming home.
Thanks to supporters like you, we can reunite children like Masiko with their families, and strengthen them against the risk of further exploitation. Your generosity can bring us one step closer to being the generation to end human trafficking.
