New! Children’s Outreach Initiative!

Who: Calling all community leaders! This means you, your friends, and your colleagues! What:	The Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations is seeking volunteers to participate in our brand new community outreach initiative involving children in grades K through 12. When:	The inaugural event of this series, “Know Your Rights Day” will take place on Friday, May 17th, 2019 at 9:30 AM. Volunteers will be asked to arrive promptly and go to the gym. Where:	This first event will take place in Pittsburgh’s Liberty School (K-5) located at 601 Filbert St, Pittsburgh, PA 15232 Why:	This new series of events educates children of their rights and gives them the tools they need to stand up for themselves and speak out for others. In PghCHR’s very first in-school outreach programming, groups of children led by community leaders (you!) will work through scenarios of discrimination finding solutions and new ideas. By giving children the tools they need earlier on, we set them up for success when the time comes to use their new skills.
