Did you know Purim is on Friday, Feb. 26? What exactly is Purim?
 
Purim in English means the Feast of Lots, which is a joyous festival commemorating the survival of Jews during 5th century BCE after they were marked for death by their Persian rulers. To celebrate this holiday, food is exchanged and Jews partake in a celebratory meal known as a se'udat Purim. 

Our NEXTGen community wants to make sure everyone has the ability to celebrate Purim. Jewish Family Services' food pantry, Popsie's Pantry, has seen a huge spike in need over the past year. To help stock the shelves for Purim, we are launching a week-long celebration, and are asking you to help fill this need for our community.

Do you have any of these items?

  • Grape juice, sparkling & plain

  • Shabbat candles

  • Honey

  • Flour

  • Sugar

  • Oil

  • Tahina

  • Nutella

  • Kosher Jelly

  • Kosher meats and cheese

  • Kosher mixes (i.e. falafel & couscous)

  • paper plates, napkins and plastic ware

  • Gefilte fish, sardines, canned salmon

  • Kosher Chicken broth and bouillon

  • Kosher dry soup mizes and canned soups

The Jewish community is important to me because I love how open it is to meeting new people. It was important to me to create a home for myself when I moved. The Jewish community is where I found that community and I want to help give back what it gave me. Being the Chair of NEXTGen, I hope to help provide a safe and fun place for young adults to meet others and explore all of what NextGen has to offer.

Experts will explore different topics, such as building the best LinkedIn, budgeting 101, buying your first home. This series will be offered starting in March and will include a virtual speed networking component so you can get to know your peers.

"Hebrew to Go - Yalla"

Learn different terms and phrases to use during daily conversation from Israeli educator Moshe Lencer. This is not your average Hebrew school class! Master the modern terms and words to use for your first/next trip to Israel!
