Come Holy Spirit
Celebrating Three EMBARK Graduations
As is tradition, at the last EMBARK community gathering prior to the release of one of our graduates, volunteers, staff, and the inside EMBARK community form a circle and “pray out” the person being released. A staff member at the Marion Correctional Institution (MCI) perfectly captured the moment in the photo above on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the end of the EMBARK Season #10 graduation at MCI.

We felt the presence of God as we heard testimonies from the graduates and also many of the EMBARK Alumni who attended from the community. It was only after we saw this picture that we recalled the power we experienced in the room that night; indeed the Holy Spirit was there. I imagine it's how Pentecost looked.

On June 8, 2022 at 7:15 pm, during the Ohio Reformatory for Women (ORW) Season #10 EMBARK Graduation, a tornado warning was issued in Union County. Everyone was evacuated to a basement at the prison, bringing unfortunate flashbacks to some of our visiting EMBARK Alumni who were granted permission to return to ORW for the celebration. The ceremony continued in the basement until we were able to return to the event space in time to finish the celebration listening to beautiful testimonies by the graduates and encouraging messages from Alumni.

As we left ORW, we were blessed with a beautiful double rainbow covering the prison after the storm; a message of hope and reminder of God's love for everyone!
Each graduation is unique. At the Pickaway Correctional Institution (PCI) EMBARK Season #1 event, we were greeted by a resident Jazz band led by two of the inside facilitators.  A team of culinary students treated those in attendance with an amazing spread of hors d'oeuvres and desserts that, along with the band, had our senses on overload. Then our hearts were pierced when the pioneer PCI EMBARK participants  shared testimonies about their hopes, spiritual renewal, and personal growth on their journey through Season #1. Alumni in attendance also shared words of encouragement before ending the evening in a prayer circle with all singing "Amazing Grace." I once was lost, but now I'm found!
