Investing in the Lives of Those
Impacted by Incarceration
In Winter 2022, Kindway Welcomes Home:

Wally and Vickey

We thank God for all your prayers and support for their successful transition.
Honoring our Volunteer Family
In 2011, Hope and Russ Seel heard that something exciting was about to happen; a new prison ministry.

Both volunteered for many years for Kairos Prison Ministry. They served on countless Kairos teams as well as in leadership positions. Their hearts for incarcerated men and women have defined their life's purpose.

In the summer of 2011, Hope joined the ORW EMBARK Season #1  facilitation team and Russ joined the MCI EMBARK Season #1 facilitation team. They both served Kindway inside prison and in the community as we welcomed home alumni. Hope served as a member of the Kindway Board of Directors for several years.

Hope and Russ touched countless lives. Together, they helped determine the course of ministries active in prison. They are beloved members of the Kindway family.
Parole Board Navigators are Expanding
The Ohio Parole Board has asked Kindway Volunteers to assist with the Parole Board Navigators program at Marion Correctional Institution (MCI), where those scheduled to have a parole hearing may choose to have a volunteer sit with them before, during, and after so that they may debrief what was said in the hearing. The volunteer's presence during this stressful hearing is proving to be helpful for incarcerated adults to collect their thoughts after the hearing and recall what was said.

Due to the success at MCI, our services will be expanding to the Ohio Reformatory for Women (ORW), and Pickaway Correctional Institution (PCI).
Alumni Reports
Congratulations go out to the Strowders who welcomed their daughter Purpose! Demetrius is also pleased to announce the expansion of his business into freight. Buckeye Deals and Transportation is on the move!
Our friend Twyana has been chosen to be an Ambassador with Represent Justice. Her art and story are gifts that will make her a great advocate for a fair justice system. We are proud of the difference God is making in the world through Twyana.
We celebrate with Tina who was recently promoted to manager with McDonald's. Soon after coming home, Tina landed an entry-level position and within six months, was promoted. We are proud of her hard work and dedication. They are blessed to have her.
We are excited for Travis who recently passed his drivers test and bought a car. Travis has been working tirelessly to execute his reentry plan. He is well on his way toward independence. We see you, Trav.
Heritage Christian Church Men's Event
Continued fellowship is important. EMBARK Men and others close to Kindway were invited to "Time to Thrive” men’s event at Heritage Christian Church in Westerville. In total, 7 accepted the invitation. The speakers challenged everyone to build relationships with the younger generation and about the struggle to put pride away and meet with others seeking counsel. It was a great time of honesty and vulnerability. May there be more opportunities to get back together.
Women's Welcome Home
The Women's Welcome Home gather the 1st Monday of every month at 6 pm at Maple Grove UMC. For December, the ladies decorated cookies as a service project for Choices for Victims of Domestic Violence. They were almost too pretty to eat... almost.
Welcome Lexi!
Lexi Rogers is pursuing her Master’s Degree in Social Work at Ohio State University and has recently joined Kindway as an intern. She is helping us create a directory of community resources that serve returning citizens, revamp our social media accounts, and will be co-facilitating programming at the Ohio Reformatory for Women. Lexi is also involved with Vista Village, a non-profit in the process of developing a tiny home village to serve those needing housing and supportive services. It was through this project that Lexi was introduced to Kindway. She is very grateful to be a part of our team, as are we. Please welcome, Lexi.
Reunions
December Reunion
What an amazing turnout at Bethel IUMC for the December EMBARK reunion where we celebrated Christmas with food, games and gifts. Debbie Beach spent the day preparing the ham and turkey as well as setting up and decorating for the evening. Kindway staff prepared side dishes and desserts were prepared by Mark and Julie Ricketts and their life-group at Lifepoint Church. Adding to the Christmas Spirit were gifts from Bath and Body Works International.
February Reunion
It was a pizza party at the February EMBARK Reunion. Our partners at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church and Kindway staff brought amazing desserts. We discussed at our tables of when we experienced God's love. Kindway EMBARK Alumni, Tina shared a brief, heartfelt testimonial.
The Joseph Group 6 Year Reunion

It has been 6 years since The Joseph Group sponsored their first bus trip to MCI where they participated in an all day retreat hosted by Kindway. This partnership has produced passionate volunteers, employment partners, and other resources.

So, for the men who have dared to join us on the trip over the years, brothers, Mark and Matt Palmer of The Joseph Group will be hosting a reunion at our partner church, St. Catharine Church in Bexley. The day will be filled with testimonials, group discussions, and fun.
