Holiday Blessings
Debbie Southwick, Kindway Project Manager
Wow, what a year we all have experienced!  No reunions, no visiting the prisons, no hugs and now the government is telling us little or no Thanksgiving and Christmas. We haven't been able to do much for our EMBARK ladies who have graduated the program.

A few weeks ago I visited one of our participants that I had not seen in a long time.  We both wore our mask and I realized she had many needs.  After speaking with Kindway's Executive Director, Chris Money, about these needs she asked me to reach out to all of our ladies and see if they also had any needs.  It was pretty amazing to learn the most needed items were lamps, towels and curtains.  I sent out an email to our volunteers and as always they came through with most of the items. I will be making deliveries after Thanksgiving.

Thank you volunteers for all your love and support for our awesome ladies.  You make a big difference in their lives.  Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and may 2021 be a better year for us all.  We know God is in control.
Congratulations Paul and Mandy Sparks
Kindway celebrates with Paul and Mandy Sparks on their much anticipated wedding. Paul and Mandy tied the knot on November 6 and we are thrilled that Mandy said "Yes!".

Paul is Kindway's Men's Transition Manager responsible for organizing programming at Marion Correctional Institution, training and deploying male volunteers (Navigators), managing the EMBARK House, and providing case management for the men returning home. We thank the Lord for Paul and we welcome his wife Mandy to the Kindway family.

Please pray for the Sparks family. Paul is also recovering from a motorcycle accident that occurred days after the wedding.
Kindway Staff Addition

We are excited to announce that Stan Stever will be joining the Kindway staff fulltime in January 2021 as Director of Community Outreach. With our planned expansion to Pickaway Correctional Institution in 2021, our EMBARK community will continue to grow and so will the need for more partnerships in the community. Stan will be working with Kindway staff and volunteers to engage more employment, landlord, church, ministry, and community agency partners. Also, he will be facilitating community building and service activities for EMBARK Alumni after COVID.
God is good. He continues to provide us with resources for His loved ones.

Kindware GIFT TWICE Campaign
It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving and Christmas will soon be here..
We know you always want to give the best gifts ever to everyone on your list!
What makes Kindware the perfect gifts?
You always gift TWICE!
First, you give one-of-a-kind hand-crafted items made by incarcerated men from Marion Correctional Institution and women from the Ohio Reformatory for Women.
Second, your donation for these gifts supports our Kindway graduates who have been impacted by incarceration.
Why the Kindware Gift Twice Campaign now?
  • Kindware generates most yearly revenue during the holiday season.
  • Due to the virus, there are no holiday bazaars or venues to feature Kindware.
  • Our Kindway program graduates are still being released from prison and resources are still needed to meet their needs.
So what can you do to help? It’s easy! GIFT TWICE!
  1. Make your gift list now! Select items from the KINDWARE BROCHURE or online at, that are perfect for every person on your list?
(Be sure to get something for yourself too!)
  1. Order your Kindware gifts online now.
  2. Share Kindware Brochures, and or the Kindway website link, with all of your friends so they can Gift Twice too!
All orders $100 or more will receive FREE shipping!
***All Kindware orders must be received by December 14th to ensure delivery in time for Christmas.

The women of Maynard Ave. UMC hosted a Welcome Home event where the ladies enjoyed a beautiful day in 75 degree November weather toasting marshmallows in fellowship and fun.

PIVOT! Update
Here at Kindway we are continuing to pivot since we are not going into MCI and ORW. Thank God for technology which allows our staff to reach in and meet with our men and women to prepare for parole hearings and work on transition plans for those who have upcoming release dates.
We are still making plans to expand EMBARK to Pickaway Correctional Institution in 2021.
Also, in January 2021 we will launch EMBRACE, our reentry program for newly released and at-risk men and women in the community.
Finally, we are working closely with the Ohio Parole Board to launch a pilot project at MCI and ORW. Kindway was selected to partner with the Ohio Parole Board by having volunteers trained to accompany MCI men and ORW women to their Parole Board hearings. This project has been delayed due to COVID, however, it will be going forward virtually! Praise God for making a way to continue to expand our service.
