Are you looking for a New Expression of church? Do you want to find ways to live out the mission and message of our Creator? Stirred to Action may be the answer for you.

Stirred to Action grew out of a desire to do more for our community to fight for the worth of all persons and to end needless suffering and to inspire others to join us. Our mission is to create a loving community of people who seek spiritual growth and work to end social injustice. We plan to bring in speakers from our community to educate us on community issues and/or stir us to discuss and take action against these issues. Our first series was on the global water crisis and what we can do at home to contribute to a better solution. We heard from Mary Guerra, Water Quality and Outreach Coordinator for KC Water. We also participated in our first group action by volunteering with Bridging the Gap to help clean up trash around Brush Creek so that it wouldn’t eventually end up in The Gulf of Mexico.

Stirred to Action meets every Second Sunday online at 9:00am. We usually start with a spiritual practice, a time for self reflection and centering, and to open ourselves to be more aware of those around us and prepare ourselves for a community experience. Then, we break into groups to learn more about each other. This is a time for us to build relationships, develop trust and the courage to share our authentic selves, and experience a safe space to question and explore. In this way, new relationships emerge, old relationships become stronger, and authentic community forms. Next, we hear from our expert, learn about the issue at hand, ask questions, discuss, and hopefully we are stirred to action whether that be something we can do individually or as a group.

We would love to have you join us. Simply email to get on the mailing list. This will get you the zoom link every Saturday before the monthly events. It will also get you the information to our group activities. We will continue to be online even after churches open back up. Our next 3-part series starts April 11 where we will be learning about refugees in the Kansas City area - what is a refugee and why do they come to Kansas City. We will also learn about programs in the Kansas City area that support refugees, and then volunteer at the New Roots for Refugees Juniper farm.

Please follow us on Facebook @StirredtoAct and Instagram @StirredtoAction and help us get the word out to those who may be looking for what we have to offer.

World Conference Update

After careful consideration of global pandemic recovery trends and consultations with field leaders and health professionals, the Community of Christ First Presidency has decided to delay 2022 World Conference until 2023.

Upholding our Enduring Principles in light of the collective information we have at this given time, it was wise to delay the next World Conference until delegates from around the world can safely travel, enter the USA, meet together, and return without contributing to community spread of COVID-19 or its emerging variants.

Youth Ministries:

A greeting from Tyler:
The last 3 months I have had the privilege of spending time with my family! Brecken Demoire Reth Horringa joined our global community at 12:13 on December 6, 2021. Not only did Kinsey and I have a new little one to share our love with, but we had a big brother who was ecstatic to meet their new baby brother. I’ve spent the last three months bonding with a baby, running around the house playing with a toddler, and growing my relationship with Kinsey.
As of last Monday, I am back in the office from paternity leave and ready to continue living out Christ’s Mission! In the coming weeks I’ll be working with volunteers and Mission Center staff in preparing for a hopeful spring and summer season! Elevate continues to thrive as young people engage with meaningful content. Youth council will begin to meet again to discuss up and coming opportunities for youth. The Mission Center will soon announce its summer events plans. Mission is happening and opportunities are in the works!
Within the last year, we have had a year full of loss, confusion, and loneliness. But I am hopeful in a future of beautiful opportunities, not only for the coming months but for years to come. May we remember that our calling of discipleship is to love and serve God’s sacred Kingdom… so let us go and feed God’s sheep.
Rally 2021
For the safety and wellbeing of our youth and their families, the Mission Center has decided we are unable to host a large social distanced modified Rally at this time. While this decision was not an easy one to make, we believe it is best to continue working in slowing the spread of COVID-19. We must be confident we can hold an event that does not put our youth and their families at high risk of transmission. We are hopeful in looking forward to an incredible Rally 2022!
