Village Heights

Farview Food Pantry (FFP) is nestled within a library in the heart of the Susquehanna Neighborhood in Independence, MO. Servicing an average of 400 people per month, FFP is nothing short of thriving. With partners such as the Community of Christ Village Heights congregation and Community Services League, the volunteerism devoted to the FFP is abundant. The pantry has been serving people in the community for three years now. FFP not only provides nutrition for individuals but is passionate about providing diapers, infant formula, personal hygiene items, and pet food and partners with a unique group, The Crimson Crew, to provide feminine hygiene products to those in desperate need.

One of the unique pieces about this myriad of partnerships is that with the FFP housed in the Mid-Continent Public Library, additional partnerships that support reading enrichment, technology access, and community building are now accessible to those who may not have had the opportunity or knowledge of it otherwise.

To be part of this incredible community resource and give your time or gifts, please contact Tammie Lay, Site Director, at 816-719-6071. To help support the Crimson Crew, please get in touch with Kellie Brady at 816-288-8599. You are always welcome to bring any donations to the Mission Center office.

Central Mission Center News:
New Ways To Give

Included above is a QR code. This takes you to the eTithing.org main page. You can print this in congregational bulletins or add to e-newsletters. There will be different codes released for Giving Tuesday and World Conference as we get closer to those events, and they will go directly to those portals.

Additionally, SecureGive now has an app for both Android and iPhones. Once you download it, type in your username and password if you already have an account. If you don’t yet have an account, click the link “Find Your Organization” and then type in Community of Christ. “My Home Congregation” can be used if you hold membership where you want to give AND your congregation doesn’t have their own portal; there are also options for “Support for Ukraine”, “Bridge of Hope”, “World Church” and then congregations who pay to have their own portals. This is a great option for occasional donations – for instance if visitors want to give but don’t carry cash. Otherwise setting up recurring transactions are easiest, and can be set up and managed through the app.  This can also be advertised in your bulletins and announcements as an option for giving.

It is that time of year when we have to start preparing to help our neighbors stay warm throughout the winter. As the cold weather approaches us we are reminded of the importance to provide this ministry even during these hard times. We are reaching out to all of you for your love and support of this event. We hope you might be able to help support "Spread The Warmth" Central Mission Center Coat Drive.
There are a few ways to contribute to this event. You can choose eTithing through the link below. You can also send a check to the Mission Center directly or you can contact Carole Price at 816-797-9424.
