The Sill
Direct-to-Consumer Packaging System

We are working with a number of direct-to-consumer brands. Rather than calling attention to itself on a shelf, DTC packaging focus is on experience and surviving a treacherous journey.
Sustainability is central to our work and The Sill packaging system is an exercise in reducing the amount of materials used and extracting the most performance out of each package component.

The Sill
A new packaging system for The Sill, a direct to consumer plant retailer.

Before re-design
Mix of materials, some of which can’t be recycled. Less than ideal unboxing experience.

After re-design
Simplified unboxing experience. Less materials used All components are made from natural fiber.

Surviving a treacherous journey
The packaging needs to put up with a lot, hence we put our prototypes through a number of basic, true-to-life test to see how well they perform.

We created the tools for The Sill facilities, to create the packages quickly and accurately, consistently.

Organic system
Dealing with a huge number of plant types and sizes, the system is flexible enough to accommodate an almost infinite number of variables.
