Dear <<First Name>>,
This is an update on our 'plans' for sampling the Roe Jan in 2020. This letter is only being sent to people who have sampled in the past.
We have been working with our partners (Bard Water Lab, Riverkeeper) to create a plan that will allow for safe COVID-19-aware sampling on the Roe Jan. There's active work being done to assess the risks and to adapt protocols for this new era. As I mentioned in the last letter, we won't be sampling until we know more about the risks associated with COVID-19 in water, guidelines for social distancing have been relaxed enough to allow for sampling, and our partners have access to lab space.
The reason I limited this letter to those of you who have previously sampled the Roe Jan is that it's likely that 2020 sampling will be limited to past samplers. This is not the year for introducing new people to the Roe Jan citizen-science experience. As we move towards resumption, we will keep all of you informed, and if we get to the point of having a plan, we'll share details so that you can decide if 2020 sampling is right for you.
Please stay safe and healthy.
