Are you working in the field of tourism? The HERIT-DATA project needs your input to shape its online platform!

One of the key outputs of the HERIT-DATA project will be an ICT platform that will allow to gather and analyse data about several tourism-related aspects: flow of tourists, the carrying capacity of a touristic site, the impact of tourism on the resident community and on the heritage, etc.

This platform will help public authorities and policy makers working in the tourism sector to take informed decisions about how to plan and manage the touristic activity in their territory.

HERIT-DATA has launched an online survey in order to gather the input of professionals working in the tourism sector, to understand their involvement in tourism-related data and to collect useful information for the platform design.

Click here to access the survey

The time required to answer the survey should be maximum 15 minutes, and you will be asked to answer up to 21 questions, depending on your profile and your field of work.

We strongly encourage you to share this survey with your network!

Launched in 2018 by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and the tourism group Globalia, the world’s largest startup competition in tourism took place on the 20th of January in Madrid.

The aim of the event is to «identify and reward the new companies that will lead the transformation of the global tourism sector within the framework of innovation and sustainability».

Among the winners, a couple of startups work on topics that relate to HERIT-DATA: Visualfy won in the category of Smart Destinations and Questo in the category of Disruptive Hospitality.

Visualfy, a Spanish company, uses innovative technological and communication solutions to adapt hotels to deaf people and people with hearing impairments. Technologies are not just used to collect data, but also to make access easier for people with disabilities.

Questo, a Romanian company, offers a new way to explore cities with the help of an app. The tourists discover the hidden stories of a city, through stories in which they are the main characters. Questo can contribute to better distributing tourism flows, by encouraging people to explore unexpected areas.

These two companies show that there are many sustainability and innovation opportunities in the tourism sector.
