Mid-Term Conference: thank you !
On the 9th and 10th June, we held the HERIT-DATA Mid-Term Conference, hosted by Turisme Comunitat Valenciana and Fundacion Valenciaport. We were meant to gather in wonderful Valencia; however, due to the still difficult context related to holding in-person events, we had to opt for an online conference.

With over 200 people registered, this 2 mornings’ event was a unique occasion to share some of our key results.

During Day 1, after a general presentation of HERIT-DATA by our lead partner Regione Toscana, we heard about the Benchmark study about Overtourism and the Snap4City open platform, which is the digital tool used by HERIT-DATA to collect data about tourism flows.

In Day 2, we went ‘from paper to practice’, with our six pilot sites presenting their data collection work, each one with a context-specific purpose. This overview was followed by the interventions of representatives of the Interreg Med Sustainable Tourism Community, as well as other initiatives and entities committed to improving tourism sustainability, including through data collection.

Thanks to all the speakers and participants for their active participation!

EU Digital COVID Certificate signed into law

Today, 14th June 2021, the Presidents of the the European Parliament, the Council of the EU and the European Commission signed the Regulation on the EU Digital COVID Certificate, which will become effective from the 1st July 2021.

This Certificate will represent a digital proof that a person has either been vaccinated against Covid-19, been tested negative or recovered from Covid-19.

The aim is to create a common tool in Europe to allow safe and free movement inside the EU, and to lift the current travel restrictions in a coordinated manner.

To date, 13 Member States have already started to issue EU Digital COVID Certificates. Others are technically ready to connect to the dedicated EU Gateway, set up to facilitate the authentication of the EU Certificates.

As stated in the dedicated webpage, “The EU Digital COVID Certificate should facilitate free movement inside the EU. It will not be a pre-condition to free movement, which is a fundamental right in the EU”.
