The GNCC held a special meeting of Club GNCC Representatives on December 12. A motion to reduce GNCC dues to $0 per member for all membership types passed unanimously. The GNCC has sufficient cash reserves to absorb this loss of revenue for one season.
The goal of our insurance program is to provide our clubs with an appropriate and adequate insurance program. Accordingly, this year we have increased some of our coverages to err on the side of caution. The chart below summarizes the new coverage versus the GNCC's previous coverage and the USCA's current coverage.
In light of COVID-19 this year the cost is $6 per curling member for clubs open in January. Clubs opening after January will have the $6 cost prorated over the rest of the year.
The GNCC provides a platform for any GNCC Club to perform background screens. Who should have a background screen?
* Everyone working with your junior and youth curlers, Coaches, trainers, chaperone’s.
* Many clubs require their board of director members to have a background screen.
* Any others positions your club decides should have a background screen.
The screening process involves registering on the website and paying a screening fee. The results will come back as a pass/fail usually within 1-3 days. Follow this link to access the system.
Our main concern is the safety and welfare of the teams competing in the Gordon International. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, clubs are closed North and South of the border. States and Provinces are beginning a second round of lockdowns, and COVID-19 cases continue to rise. In this environment it’s impossible to hold the 2021 Gordon International, scheduled for March 2021 in Montreal. The clubs scheduled to receive an invitation will be offered a team in the 2022 Gordon International in March 2022. The venue hasn’t been finalized, but it’ll be held in the GNCC. Please contact me if you have any questions.
