Between the Sheets

September 17, 2021

USA Curling is proud to deliver 18 hours of television coverage to millions of homes through the NBC Sports Network. Fans will be able to tune into the event for nine consecutive weeks beginning on September 19, 2021.
The GNCC Fall Meeting will be held on-line on September 22 starting at 6 pm EDT.  The GNCC board would like to extend an invitation to any interested club presidents and club representatives to attend the meeting.  Information will be provided about the GNCC club insurance options this year, particularly for those clubs that did not open due to the pandemic last season.  USCA membership requirements for GNCC clubs will be a topic for discussion also.  RSVP by Sunday, September 19 to Benj Guzman for a meeting invite.
The Trustees of the Ross Tarlton, both for the GNCC and for the Ontario Curling Association, OCA, have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 event and hope things will work out in 2022. Although the Canadian border has opened for visiting Americans who have been vaccinated, the US border is closed until at least September 20th. With the uncertainty of whether the border will open in time for the Ross in early November, combined with the discomfort being caused by the Delta variant, we decided that it would be inappropriate to attempt to hold an event this year. We want to recognize and thank the Utica CC for continuing to work with us as we navigate these difficult decisions.

The Ross Tarlton has a tradition of being played each year in a format where the GNCC competes against the OCA with 16 teams representing each side. Events rotate between the US and Canada. As trustees, we attempt to invite team submissions from the various clubs in the GNCC. Each invitation is good for two years which allows for a game in the US and a game in Ontario.

Please stay tuned for plans to progress during the spring and summer of 2022.
