DID YOU KNOW….

The GNCC Memorial Trust recently lost its original chairman, Clark Neill, from Cape Cod. Karl Strength of the Peachtree CC is the current chairman. The Memorial Trust Fund was established in 2000 with a gift of $50,000 from an anonymous donor in honor of a loved one. Each year one dollar of your GNCC dues goes to help grow the trust.

Clark Neill
June 2, 1934 – August 8, 2021
By Gwen Krailo

Clark Neill curled out of Broomstones for many years with his wife Joyce and son Dayton. He retired to Falmouth and curled out of the Cape Cod Curling Club so that he could enjoy his other passion – sailing. His two passions involved water, one of the liquid variety and one of the solid. Even when sailing he thought about curling because his boat was named 8 Ender.

In 2000 Clark was asked to be the first chairman of the newly created Memorial Trust which was started with a $50,000 anonymous donation to help any club that suffered a catastrophic equipment failure. He remained chairman of the trust until retiring this past summer due to poor health. At 6’4” Clark said that chairing the trust would be a tall order, but he was big enough to fill it. He then asked me if we would see eye to eye on all issues. At 4’11” I replied, “Only if you sit down first.” We laughed. I considered Clark a friend and will certainly miss him and the great conversations we had about the GNCC and curling in general.
