Did you know?

by Gwen Krailo
GNCC Historian
Did you know that the Gordon Emmet Bonspiel is the second oldest competition in the GNCC after the Bell Quoits Silver Medal? (more about that in a future article) The medal has been in competition every year since 1868, except for the years 1874, 1887, 1889, 1890, (thaw) and 1943 (war).
Thank You Volunteers!
In our last issue we were looking for a volunteer to take over the role of GNCC Statistician. A big thank you to everyone who offered to help. We're pleased to announce that Adric Olsen from the Triangle Curling Club will be our new Statistician. And Chris Rosato from the Finger Lakes Curling Club will be helping out with our newsletter.
More Help Wanted:
1) GNCC Seeks New Mixed Playdown Event Chair

After 5 seasons of doing an outstanding job coordinating the GNCC Mixed Championship, Joel Leneker is ready to pass the baton to a successor.
The GNCC Mixed Championship also serves as our Region’s qualifying playdown for the USCA Mixed National Championship.  Last year’s GNCC winning team went on to win the National Championship, which qualified them to represent USA at the 2019 World Mixed Championship, currently in progress.
Joel will continue as Event Chair through the 2020 Mixed Championship, taking place February 20-23 in Rochester, NY.  Joel will be happy to take on a trainee in February, to walk through all aspects of running this exciting and very competitive event.
For a more complete job description, please contact Joel.

2) We're also looking for a new Chairman for the GNCC Arena Club Championship. If you're interested contact Jay Flanders or Ken Tonis.
