No major I-10 Connect closures over Labor Day Weekend;
Work resume next week with overnight closures on I-10
EL PASO, Texas — Holiday travelers will get a reprieve from major closures related to the I-10 Connect project over Labor Day Weekend, but in the following weeks the project will kick into high gear including overnight closures on Interstate 10 followed shortly by much-anticipated long term closure of ramps from I-10 to Ciudad Juárez.
 
Members of the public are encouraged to attend the Texas Department of Transportation’s monthly I-10 Connect community meeting to get updates on the project’s progress and upcoming traffic impacts.

The community meeting will be held at 5:30pm on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, in the Medical Education Building at Texas Tech University Health Science Center El Paso’s Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, corner of Rick Francis Street and Robert Brown Avenue. 

Tuesday, September 3, through Thursday, September 5
Nightly from 9pm to 5am
  • Ramp F which connects westbound I-10 to Juárez will be closed to all traffic.
  • DETOUR: Take Exit 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss) to northbound US 54, take Exit 23 (Cassidy Road/Fort Bliss), take Exit 22B (Pershing Drive), use the turnaround to enter southbound US 54 and follow signs to Juárez.
  • Ramp G which connects eastbound I-10 to Juárez will be closed to all traffic.
  • DETOUR: Take Exit 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss) to northbound US 54, take Exit 22B (Pershing Drive), use the turnaround to enter southbound US 54 and follow signs to Juárez.
  • NOTE: These nightly closures are in anticipation of the nine-month closure of Ramp F and, later, Ramp G which have been previously announced and are explained later in this document. 
Crews will be preparing part of an existing ramp for demolition. 

Wednesday, September 4, and Thursday, September 5
Nightly from 9pm to 5am
  • Westbound I-10 will be closed to all traffic at US 54.
  • DETOUR: Take Exit 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss) to northbound US 54, take Exit 23 (Cassidy Road/Fort Bliss), take Exit 22B (Pershing Drive), use the turnaround to enter southbound US 54 and follow signs to westbound I-10. 
Crews will be working on an overhead bridge deck.

Wednesday, September 4, and Thursday, September 5
Nightly from 9pm to 5am
  • Alternating lane closures will be in place on US 54 between Loop 375 (César Chavez Border Highway) and Cassidy Road.
 
Crews will be working on drilled shafts for overhead sign structures
 

Thursday, September 5, from 9pm to 5am
  • US 62 (Paisano Drive) will be closed to all traffic at US 54.
  • DETOURS: Eastbound traffic will turn right on San Marcial Street, left on Delta Drive, and left on Boone Street before returning to Paisano. Westbound traffic will turn right on Gateway Boulevard North, left on SH 20 (Alameda Avenue), and left on Loop 478 (Copia Street) before returning to Paisano.
  • NOTE: Traffic leaving westbound Look 375 via Exit 20 (US 62/Paisano Drive) will not be able to turn left on Paisano or continue onto Gateway Boulevard North. 

Crews will be working on an overhead bridge deck.
REMINDER
When the I-10 Connect Project is complete, traffic going from Interstate 10 to Juárez will have separate ramps from traffic which is going from I-10 to Loop 375 via the Spaghetti Bowl. To build those new ramps to Juárez parts of the existing ramps from I-10 to Juárez must be removed and replaced.
 
Beginning at 9pm on Sunday, September 8, Ramp F which connects westbound I-10 to Juárez will close to all traffic to accommodate this work. This closure will be in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will last for approximately nine months. In the coming weeks, Ramp G which connects eastbound I-10 to Juárez will close, too.

DETOURS TO JUÁREZ
For the first two days of the closure, traffic seeking to access Juárez from westbound I-10 will take Exit 23B (US 62/180/Paisano Drive/Chelsea Street) and turn left on Paisano to access the Bride of the Americas. This detour will allow crews to remove and replace temporary safety barriers on the long-term detour route.
 
Beginning on Tuesday, September 10, traffic seeking to access Juárez from westbound I-10 at the Spaghetti Bowl will use the following detour: Take Exit 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss); instead of going south to Juárez, follow northbound US 54. Take Exit 23 (Cassidy Road), then take Exit 22B (Pershing Drive). Use the newly widened turnaround at Pershing to enter southbound US 54. Continue on southbound US 54 and follow signs to Juárez.
 
The official detour has been designed to minimize traffic signals and includes newly widened portions to better accommodate truck traffic. However, motorists should consider using other international bridges to cross into Ciudad Juárez. Commercial trucks should be mindful that they are prohibited from using many city streets adjacent to the Bridge of the Americas.

On-going traffic impacts which will continue during the week of September 2:

  • Ramp E which connects Gateway Boulevard South to southbound US 54 at Yandell Drive remains closed until further notice.
  • Ramp T which connects Gateway Boulevard North to northbound US 54 north of US 62 (Paisano Drive) remains closed until further notice.
  • Alternating complete closures of Durazno Avenue, Rosa Avenue and Uva Street.
  • Both turnarounds under US 54 at US 62 (Paisano Drive) remain closed until further notice.
  • Intermittent lane closures will be in place on Gateway Boulevard East between Piedras Street and US 62/180 (Paisano Drive).
  • Intermittent lane closures will be in place on Gateway Boulevard West between Boone Street and Palm Street.
  • Lane closures are in place on eastbound and westbound SH 20 (Alameda Avenue) at US 54 until further notice.
  • Lane closures are in place on eastbound and westbound US 62 (Paisano Drive) between I-110 and US 54 until further notice.
  • Lane closures are in place on Ramp D which connects southbound US 54 to eastbound I-10 until further notice.
  • Lane closures are in place on Gateway Boulevard South between Findley Avenue and US 62 (Paisano Drive) until further notice.

 

All closures are subject to change due to weather or field conditions. On ramps and off ramps may close up to an hour before stated times. 

About the I-10 Connect Project

The I-10 Connect project is at the intersection of Interstate 10 and US 54 in El Paso County. The project extends from I-10 to Loop 375 (Cesar Chávez Border Highway) and provides access to the Bridge of the Americas (BOTA) via I-110. The $96 million project includes the construction of four new direct connectors, a full reconstruction of the I-110/US 62 (Paisano Drive) interchange, and removes exit ramps from US 62 to I-110.

I-10 Connect will improve connectivity between I-10 and Loop 375, also providing an alternate route to I-10. It started February 19, 2019, and is expected to be complete in less than three years.

No hay cierres de I-10 Connect este fin de semana; se reanuda la obra la semana que viene con cierres nocturnos en I-10

EL PASO, Texas — Los automovilistas que viajan para los días festivos no se darán con cierres en la autopista, pero en las semanas que vienen el Proyecto I-10 Connect vuelve a su obra para incluir cierres nocturnos en I-10 y los cierres de largo plazo de rampas de I-10 hacia Ciudad Juárez.

Se les invita al público asistir a las reuniones informáticas del Departamento de Transporte de Texas (TXDoT) para informes sobre el Proyecto I-10 Connect y de los próximos impactos al tráfico.

La reunión se lleva a cabo a las 5:30pm el martes 3 de septiembre 2019, en Medical Education Building en Texas Tech University Health Science Center, Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, a la esquina de Rick Francis Street and Robert Brown Avenue. 

Martes 3 hasta jueves 5 de septiembre

Cada noche de 9pm a 5am

  • La Rampa F que conecta I-10 Oeste a Cd. Juárez cierra para todo tráfico.
  • DESVIACIÓN: Tomar Salida 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss) a US 54 Norte, tomar Salida 23 (Cassidy Road/Fort Bliss), tomar Salida 22B (Pershing Drive), utilizar el retorno hacia US 54 Sur y seguir señalamientos hacia Cd. Juárez.
  • La Rampa G que conecta I-10 Este a Cd. Juárez cierra para todo tráfico.
  • DESVIACIÓN: Tomar Salida 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss) a US 54 Norte, tomar Salida 22B (Pershing Drive), utilizar el retorno hacia US 54 Sur y seguir señalamientos hacia Cd. Juárez.
  • AVISO: Estos cierres nocturnos son en anticipación del cierre de 9 meses de la Rampa F y después, la Rampa G que se publicaron previamente y se detalla mas  en este documento.

  • DESVIACIÓN: Tomar Salida 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss) a US 54 Norte, tomar Salida 23 (Cassidy Road/Fort Bliss), tomar Salida 22B (Pershing Drive), utilizar el retorno hacia US 54 Sur y seguir señalamientos hacia I-10 Oeste.

Miércoles 4 y jueves 5 de septiembre

  • Cierran carriles de manera intermitente en US 54 entre Circuito 375 (César Chavez Border Highway) y Cassidy Road.

Jueves 5 de septiembre, de 9pm a 5am

  • US 62 (Paisano Drive) cierra para todo tráfico sobre US 54.
  • DESVIACIONES: El tráfico del Este dobla a la  derecha en Calle San Marcial, izquierda en Delta Drive, izquierda en Calle Boone antes de integrarse al Paisano. El tráfico del Oeste dobla a la  derecha en Gateway Boulevard Norte, izquierda en SH 20 (Alameda Avenue), izquierda en Circuito 478 (Copia Street) antes de integrarse al Paisano.
  • AVISO: Al tráfico que sale del Circuito 375 Oeste vía Salida 20 (US 62/Paisano Drive) no se les permitirá doblar a la izquierda en Paisano ni continuar en Gateway Boulevard Norte.

RECORDATORIO

La Rampa F de I-10 Oeste hacia Cd. Juárez cierra por nueve meses a partir del 8 de septiembre

Cuando se termine el Proyecto I-10 Connect, el tráfico de I-10 tendrá opción de dos rampas interconectoras de la autopista I-10: una a Cd. Juárez y otra al Circuito 375 vía Spaghetti Bowl. Para construir estas nuevas rampas interconectoras, partes de las rampas existentes se tienen que remover y reemplazarse.

A partir de las 9pm el domingo 8 de septiembre, La Rampa F que conecta el I-10 Oeste a Cd. Juárez cierra para todo tráfico. Este cierre estará en efecto 24 horas al día, durante toda la semana, por aproximadamente nueve meses.  En las semanas que vienen, la Rampa G que conecta I-10 Este hacia Cd. Juárez cerrará también.

Desviaciones a Ciudad Juárez 

Durante los primeros dos días del cierre, el tráfico de I-10 Oeste hacia Cd. Juárez toma Salida 23B (US 62/180/Paisano Drive/Chelsea Street) y dobla a la izquierda en Paisano para tomar el Puente Internacional de las Américas. Esta desviación permite a los equipos remover y reemplazar las barreras temporales de seguridad para la nueva ruta de desvío. 

A partir del martes 10 de septiembre, el tráfico con destino a Cd. Juárez en el I-10 Oeste sobre Spaghetti Bowl toma la siguiente ruta: Salida 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss); en lugar de seguir hacia el Sur seguir  US 54 Norte. Tomar Salida 23 (Cassidy Road), tomar Salida 22B (Pershing Drive). Utilizar el retorno nuevamente renovado en Pershing hacia US 54 Sur. Continuar en US 54 Sur y seguir señalamientos hacia Cd. Juárez. Esta desviación permanecerá en efecto durante el cierre entero.

La desviación oficial se ha designado para minimizar el empleo de semáforos e incluye vías nuevamente extendidas par mejor acomodar al trafico. Mas los automovilistas deben considerar utilizar otros cruces internacionales hacia Cd. Juárez en este momento. Se les recuerda a los choferes de camiones comerciales que se les prohíbe su tránsito en múltiples calles municipales cerca del Puente Internacional de las Américas. 
Mantenerse Informado
TxDOT ha estado advirtiendo a grupos comunitarios y organizaciones comerciales en ambos lados de la frontera sobre este cierre desde hace varios meses. Para mas informes sobre este proyecto, incluyendo el cierre de la Rampa F, llame a la línea informática bilingüe al (855) 463-1010. Impactos al tráfico que continúan durante la semana del 2 de septiembre:

  • La Rampa E que conecta Gateway Boulevard Sur al US 54 Sur sobre Yandell Drive permanece cerrada hasta nuevo aviso.
  • Rotando cierres completos de Avenidas Durazno y Rosa entre Calles Bowie y Uva.
  • La Rampa T que conecta Gateway Norte Boulevard a US-54 Norte al norte de US 62 (Paisano) permanecerá cerrada hasta nuevo aviso 
  • Los dos retornos en US-62 (Paisano Drive) por debajo del US 54 permanecerán cerrados hasta nuevo aviso 
  • Cierres intermitentes de carriles en Gateway Boulevard Este entre Piedras y 62/180 (Paisano Drive).
  • Cierres intermitentes de carriles en Gateway Boulevard Oeste entre Calles Boone y Palm.
  • Cierres de carriles en efecto en ambos sentidos de SH 20 (Alameda Avenue) sobre US 54 hasta nuevo aviso
  • Cierres de carriles en efecto ambos sentidos de US 62 (Paisano Drive) sobre US 54 hasta nuevo aviso.
  • Cierres de carriles en efecto ambos sentidos de US 54 entre Circuito 375 y Spur 601 hasta nuevo aviso Cierres de carriles en efecto en Rampa D que conecta US 54 Sur a I-10 Este hasta nuevo aviso
  • Cierres intermitentes de carriles en Gateway Boulevard Sur entre Findley Avenue y US 62 (Paisano. Drive).

Todos los cierres están sujetos a cambios debido al clima o condiciones de construcción.  Las rampas de acceso y de salida podrán ser cerradas hasta una hora antes de lo publicado.
SOBRE I-10 CONNECT
El Proyecto "I-10 Connect" se encuentra en la intersección de la autopista interestatal I-10 y la carretera US 54 en el Condado de El Paso. El proyecto se extiende del I-10 al Circuito 375 (Cesar Chávez Border Highway). El proyecto da acceso al Puente Internacional de las Américas (BOTA por sus siglas en inglés) vía la autopista interestatal I-110. El proyecto de $96 millones incluye la construcción de cuatro puentes interconectores, una reconstrucción completa de la intersección I-110/US 62 (Paisano Drive), y remueve las rampas de salida del US 62 al I-110.
