Augmented safety measures for pedestrians
near I-10 Connect Work Zone

EL PASO, Texas — Motorists traveling southbound on Interstate 110 toward the Bridge of the Americas will encounter augmented safety measures for pedestrians. Last week, crews installed additional signage and speed bumps to warn motorists of a temporary crosswalk immediately before entering the southbound inspection facility.

The temporary crosswalk is necessary to accommodate international pedestrian traffic while the I-110/US 62 (Paisano Drive) interchange is demolished and reconstructed as part of the I-10 Connect Project. Pedestrians are reminded to only cross roadways in marked crosswalks, follow marked pedestrian routes, and never cross temporary construction fencing.
 
Additionally, motorists will encounter the following traffic impacts at other locations around the I-10 Connect Work Zone.
Tuesday, July 7, through Thursday, July 10
Daily from 9am to 4pm
  • The on-ramp which connects Gateway Boulevard South to southbound US 54 north of Pershing Drive will be closed to all traffic.
  • DETOUR: Enter southbound US 54 south of Pershing Drive.
  • Lane closures will be in place on southbound US 54 between Pershing Drive and Montana Avenue.
 
Crews will be working on a dynamic message sign.
The Following Long-term Closures
Will Continue Without Interruption:
  • Ramps F and G, which connect I-10 to Juárez at the Spaghetti Bowl, remain detoured through northbound US 54 to Pershing Drive until further notice.
  • Interstate 110, the short freeway spur leading to and from the Bridge of the Americas, remains closed to northbound traffic until further notice.
  • The ramp from southbound US 54 to US 62 (Paisano Drive) remains closed until further notice.
  • Both turnarounds under US 54 at US 62 (Paisano Drive) remains closed until further notice.
  • Intermittent closures on Durazno Avenue, Rosa Avenue and Uva Street.
  • Lane closures will be in place on eastbound and westbound SH 20 (Alameda Avenue) at US 54 until further notice.
  • Lane closures will be in place on eastbound and westbound US 62 (Paisano Drive) between I-110 and US 54 until further notice.
  • Lane closures will be in place on Ramp D, which connects southbound US 54 to eastbound I-10 until further notice.
  • Lane closures will be in place on Ramp H, which connects eastbound I-10 to northbound US 54, until further notice.
  • Intermittent lane closures on Gateway Boulevard East between Piedras Street and US 62/180 (Paisano Drive).
  • Intermittent lane closures on Gateway Boulevard West between Boone Street and Palm Street.
  • Intermittent lane closures on Gateway Boulevard North between Trowbridge Drive and Altura Avenue.
  • Intermittent lane closures on US 62/180 (Paisano Drive) at I-10.
  • Intermittent lane closures on US 54 between Loop 375 and Spur 601.
Onramp and offramp closures may begin up to one hour earlier than stated times. All information is subject to change based upon weather and field conditions.

About the I-10 Connect Project

The I-10 Connect project is at the intersection of Interstate 10 and US 54 in El Paso County. The project extends from I-10 to Loop 375 (Cesar Chávez Border Highway) and provides access to the Bridge of the Americas (BOTA) via I-110. The $96 million project includes the construction of four new direct connectors, a full reconstruction of the I-110/US 62 (Paisano Drive) interchange, and removes exit ramps from US 62 to I-110.

I-10 Connect will improve connectivity between I-10 and Loop 375, also providing an alternate route to I-10. It started February 19, 2019, and is expected to be complete in less than three years.

Aumentan medidas de seguridad para peatones
en zona de construcción de Proyecto I-10 Connect

EL PASO, Texas — Los automovilistas que viajan en I-110 Sur hacia el Puente Internacional de las Américas se encontrarán con nuevas medidas de seguridad para peatones. Cuadrillas instalaron nuevos señalamientos y topes para alertar a los automovilistas de un cruce peatonal temporal inmediatamente antes del ingreso al kiosco de inspecciones.

Este cruce peatonal temporal es necesario para el tránsito peatonal internacional mientras se derrumba el eje I-110/US 62 (Paisano Drive) y se reconstruya como parte del Proyecto I-10 Connect. Se les recuerda a los peatones sólo atravesar la calle por los cruces designados, seguir las rutas peatonales, y nunca atravesar los cercos temporales de la construcción.
 
Además, los automovilistas experimentarán los siguientes impactos en otros sitios por la zona de la obra I-10 Connect.

  • Cierres intermitentes en US 54 entre Circuito 375 y Spur 601. 
Pueden iniciar los cierres de rampas hasta una hora antes de lo tiempos indicados. Toda información de construcción está sujeta a cambios de clima y de condiciones del campo.
 
SOBRE I-10 CONNECT
El Proyecto "I-10 Connect" se encuentra en la intersección de la autopista interestatal I-10 y la carretera US 54 en el Condado de El Paso. El proyecto se extiende del I-10 al Circuito 375 (Cesar Chávez Border Highway). El proyecto da acceso al Puente Internacional de las Américas (BOTA por sus siglas en inglés) vía la autopista interestatal I-110. El proyecto de $96 millones incluye la construcción de cuatro puentes interconectores, una reconstrucción completa de la intersección I-110/US 62 (Paisano Drive), y remueve las rampas de salida del US 62 al I-110.
