Hope Springs Eternal
We are amidst unprecedented times, and with that brings an unprecedented suck! Yet, Spring is upon us...yes Spring, it’s here.
You might have missed it, with all this going on, but it is here. It is still a time for all things to come alive, and grow. Still a time for vibrant color, renewal, and most importantly a time for hope. In the words of the great English poet Alexander Pope, “Hope springs eternal...”
Pope was known for for his unflinching spirit in the face of disadvantage. Born near the end of The Great Plague of London, diagnosed with Tuberculosis at age 12 and with a life long affliction of crippling headaches, Pope persevered and became the second most quoted writer in the English language, dying at the young age of 56. Moreover, Pope led an optimistic philosophy during those very dark days not just through England but all of Europe. He did so despite his own daily fight with illness.
So I challenge you, despite all the changes, and all the uncertainty we face today, find a way, every day, to persevere, to be optimistic, to be hopeful. Share that with your family, with your brothers in the gloom and with your communities! Embrace the suck and let hope spring eternal!
