What we're reading:
Writer, broadcaster and public speaker Sarah Joseph's reflections on grief got us thinking about loss and beauty.

What we're watching:
Travel writer and journalist Tharik Hussain's Minarets in the Mountains: A Journey into Muslim Europe* has been selected as Stanfords' Book of the Month for July! He introduces us to his fascinating work here.

What we're listening to:
A shout out to a Jeemer for sharing their favourite recent 'listen' - Maria Popova's chat with Krista Tippett in her On Being series. We've followed Maria's incredible blog for years and it was a delight to actually hear her expounding her thoughts and wisdom.

Our favourite quote:

"The reason we’re so increasingly intolerant of long articles and why we skim them, why we skip forward even in a short video that reduces a 300-page book into a three-minute animation — even in that we skip forward — is that we’ve been infected with this kind of pathological impatience that makes us want to have the knowledge but not do the work of claiming it....The only way to glean knowledge is contemplation, and the road to that is time. There’s nothing else. It’s just time. There is no shortcut for the conquest of meaning. And ultimately, it is meaning that we seek to give to our lives."

What we're loving:
A huge thank you to another one of our Jeemers for pointing us in the direction of this lovely hack that involves renaming your app folders on your mobile device as affirmations instead. Simple yet awesome!

Jeem Juxtapositions:
Thank you all for continuing to frequent our Jeem Essentials* reading list. The list is a curated selection of reads that have featured in this newsletter, been mentioned in one of our Instagram Stories or have simply tickled our fancy. One thing's for sure: they resonate with our desire to inspire peace, purpose and productivity.

Quote we're pondering over:
The language of God is silence, all else is poor translation Rumi

All best wishes and duas,

Tauseef & Sarah
