The Future Means Collaboration and Cooperation

The International Virtual Campus Experience
English. International mobility programs, popularly known as “Study Abroad,” have brought to our universities the possibility of offering our students social, educational and cultural learning experiences throughout the world. Numerous studies have addressed the benefits of these programs: a development of intercultural competencies, increased social mobility, greater employability. These are just some of the advantages of studying in a foreign country.

The outbreak of the pandemic brought these experiences to a sudden halt. Since March 2020, many Jesuit universities around the world wanted to maintain the responsibility we have towards our students by designing and launching virtual international experiences. Today, the University of Deusto tells us about its experience launching the "International Virtual Campus" program. A project that seeks to build a virtual campus where students from sister institutions can study remotely.

Could a project like the "International Virtual Campus" succeed if more Jesuit universities participated, or constructed their own? After a year of experience, Deusto is already collaborating with professors from other international universities and has opened its classes to students from AUSJAL universities.

For more information and a look at how this program operates read the article by Alex Rayón, Vicerector for Internationalization at Deusto University. Read article
