9 Demands for Food and Rights
#HelpUsFeedYou Campaign Launch

April 2020

Rural peoples are at the frontlines of producing food for the world amid the COVID 19 pandemic. Yet, they are disproportionately at risk without adequate support and social safety nets. Crops left untended, inaccessible fishing waters, lack of access to roads and towns for trade, plummeting farmgate prices of export goods and increasing price of food staples paint a bleaker future of

risk and hunger for the rural peoples in the Global South.
The vulnerabilities caused by the pandemic only amplify the gnawing stomach of our food producers as they are barred from farming and fishing, which affects the larger population. States must not forget the necessary role of the food producers in addressing a public health crisis.
