Due to the unprecedented impact, the coronavirus is having on the world, GivingTuesday has just announced #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving and unity, set to take place on Dec 1, 2020.
In its essence, giving Tuesday harnesses social media's power and the charitable nature of people around the world. It encourages them to donate their time, talents, and resources to pressing local and global challenges.
Please consider a donation to Greater Springfield Senior Services, Inc. Your donation on #GivingTuesday will directly support many of GSSSI's vital programs, such as Meals on Wheels and Protective Services. Our work strives to assist older adults and individuals living with disabilities to remain safe and independent within their homes, and your donation is greatly appreciated.
Lunch time update: Greater Springfield Senior Services, Inc. has been busy preparing for #GivingTuesday by spreading the word on our social media, sending emails, making personal phone calls and more.
This hard work has 'paid' off with our first donations of the day and we would like to thank those who have already donated.
We were touched by a donation given in person (socially distanced of course) at one of the GSSSI Grab 'n Go Meal sites. A very generous woman walked to the Grab 'n Go Meal site and handed over a crisp twenty dollar bill to the GSSSI Meal Site Coordinator.
This type of generosity is truly heartwarming, inspiring and more importantly, necessary.
Now more than ever, we rely on our communities' generosity to help those we serve though this challenging time.
Thank you to all who have donated today.
An extra special thank you to the wonderful woman who was compelled to bring her donation directly to one of the GSSSI vital programs that provides a Covid-safe and nutritious lunch to older adults.
