Ministry Partner Update

The Mission is Still Great...

As we head into our time of transition, we find a stability with a God whose nature never changes. God continues to extend his hand upon the lives of those in our 301 and we seek to be his instruments in all things. This week FBC engaged in Teacher Appreciation Week by honoring and serving the Brookstone and Weekday School teachers. This has been a unique and fruitful year for our teachers and it was a joy to serve them with an awesome meal and thank you gifts. Brookstone teachers got a chance to meet with our leadership as we served them and many shared why they chose to serve at a Bible based school. It was encouraging to hear how the Lord has drawn each teacher with a vision of impacting kids both physically and spiritually.

The work with Brookstone continues this Friday May 6th. Brookstone is holding a Hope Rally. This event will encourage Brookstone students with the spiritual message of hope found in the Bible and engage them in a fun filled evening. During the program important issues like depression, bullying and identity are dealt with. With the publicity surrounding teenage and young adult suicides in the past few weeks this is a great time to engage these students with such crucial subject matter.

The after math of Covid 19 is slowly lifting off the Jail and Prison System within North Carolina. Volunteer approval applications are finally being processed. The Mecklenburg County Jail represents the largest living population within vicinity of our church and we have maintained a strong presence within the jail for several decades. We desire to maintain our work of Bible teaching and witnessing within the jail once volunteers are allowed back in. If you are interested in learning to be a bible teacher or mentor within the County Jail please contact Joey Davidson with Missions to learn more on how to sign up.

Our Ministry Partner, Changed Choices continues to make spiritual impact in the lives of woman returning to society from incarceration. A recent testimony involves a woman who didn’t participate in any programs for self-improvement while incarcerated. While being discipled through Changed Choices she has come to the recognition for a permanent change in life direction. The crucial decision to enroll in school to acquire a degree was finally made and this client is now preparing for her first semester of schooling. We will be partnering with Changed Choices to do an outreach to around 75 women. The project will involve a special film presentation and engagement. The date has been set for the night of Thursday June 2nd and will begin at 6pm. They will need the help of FBC volunteers. Lets make this a night of witness, outreach and service. I hope you will consider joining us.
As we move forward, let us believe the great things about our God and let us continue to attempt great things for our God!
