MEET POONAM MISTRY

Poonam Mistry (@poonammistryart) is a 2019 Kate Greenway Medal Finalist. She is the illustrator for my picture book, GOODNIGHT GANESHA, due out on Philomel Books in Fall 2021. Edited by Liza J. Kaplan.

"The minute I held @chitrasoundar's book, YOU'RE SAFE WITH ME, I knew in my heart, I wanted Poonam to illustrate #GOODNIGHTGANESHA. Lucky me, our editor. @LizaJKaplan, also wanted to work with Poonam! And the universe aligned such that Poonam wanted to work with us after reading the manuscript text. The interior sketches she shared were fantastical. All I can say without tearing up, is that she captured my imagination brilliantly and I LOVE the illustrations I've seen so far. "

My agency sister, Kari Anne Holt, wrote us a poem, so lovely, to celebrate GOODNIGHT GANESHA and the launch of this newsletter!

In appreciation of Kari Anne's "Typewriter Rodeo" Poem, I told her we would come up with some "Typewriter" poems of our own and share them in the
GOODNIGHT GANESHA Scrapbook I'll be keeping for Launch Day
in FALL 2021. I plan to read one or two, or who knows, maybe more at the launch?
