I was enjoying my Saturday evening, when I received lots of messages on email and on IG DM asking if I had a new IG account. Some friends even snapped pix! And I had to act immediately by reporting this fake account to IG.
I can't get any of my accounts 'verified', but I sure could get impersonated! How'd that happen?
I'm not a celebrity. I'm not an executive. I'm not a household brand. I'm Nadia. A newbie, debut author using social media to interact with friends, family, educators, librarians, the writing community to talk about my passion for books, my writing journey, and being social.
I can't say I'm not upset. I can't say I'm not frustrated. And I can't help 'feeling' violated or cringing someone used my personal information against me to create an impersonation account. Asking 'why' doesn't even matter, because I'll never know the answer.
I can't say I'm surprised, seeing this already happened to a couple of my CPs recently. I figured it was a matter of time before this happened to me. Now that it has...I have to take even more preventative measures than what I already had in place, to keep my accounts even safer and hope this doesn't happen again.
To help with that, I still require my community to be guarded too. Please note my OFFICIAL IG accounts:

Because of your vigilance, I'm happy to report IG responded swiftly and removed the bogus account within minutes.
