European Winter Walking Days 2022
The Tirol Werbung, in cooperation with the Osttirol Tourismusverband and ERA, organised the wonderful European Winter Walking Days 2022 in Kartitsch (Osttirol). Despite the Covid restrictions, 41 registered walkers (with host walkers about 50 pers.) of all ages (from 5 years old to seniors) participated from 10 – 13 March 2022 in long and short programmes prepared in the Kartitsch valley with alternative excursions to interesting neighbouring places. The spring came to the Southern hillsides, but there was still snow in the majority of valley and the top of hills as well. The social evenings were held in typical Tyrolean atmosphere in cosy restaurants, accompanied by the local music and food.
All guests appreciated the friendly and generous welcome provided by the Osttirol Tourismusverband, directed by Bernhard Pichler. Also the kindness from the accommodation and restaurants hosts in the valley who made everyone feel very welcome. Kartitsch is a real winter walking village with perfectly maintained trails in the different side-valleys or on the top of the local “hill” Dorfberg (2,100 m above sea level) with a beautiful 360° view to the Alps. All participants now have lovely memories and can recommend this corner of Austria to visit.
