Space Academy in Bremen

The SpaceUp Consortium successfully carried out the first Space Academy in Helsinki at the beginning of June, and close on its heels is Space Academy number 2, to be held in Bremen, hosted by AviaSpace Bremen.

This Space Academy will be structured in a very similar way, with experts offering insights on six key topics forall participating startups; and additionally one-to-one sessions for 10 selected, most advanced European space entrepreneurs (finalists) to benefit from further  tailored advice and support.

It is free to apply, and besides free participation in the six workshops for everyone, 10 selected finalists will not only receive customised services but will also receive some financial support for travel/accommodation costs and be allowed to pitch on the second day. Do also note that high-tech, deep-tech, IT and startups using satellite data are invited to apply for the Space Academy as well.

The Call is now open - application deadline for individual services and support 15th August 2019
The second day, with the pitches will be held within the framework of the Space Tech Expo Europe, a free-to-attend conference and exhibition for anyone interested in space tech, business and innovation. This exciting event will provide a unique environment for all Space Academy participants, setting the stage for a Space Academy surrounded by e.g. New Space actors, smallsats manufacturers and mission planners, allowing for extensive networking, including EEN brokerage for pre-arranged bilateral talks to potential customers and investors. (Separate registration required).

The Space Academies are not just about the event itself, they can kick-start ongoing support and services from the SpaceUp experts. This is invaluable for startups interested in scaling up, looking for investment, with funding and financing at the core of our six workshops, or requiring advice on entrepreneur’s next steps to conquer European markets and widen their application areas.
See for more details (‘learn more’) and then to apply.

Looking forward to seeing you in Bremen!
Startups, investors, and space tech experts joined forces at Space Academy Helsinki

On 3-4 June 2019 SpaceUp launched the first of six ‘Space Academies’, organised by EBAN (European Business Angel Network) in Helsinki, Finland.

The Space Academy gave selected startups the opportunity to participate in insightful sessions on a range of topics given by experts in the sectors. Ranging from how to become investment ready or getting tips on how to succeed in crowd-funding campaigns, to analysing business models, the use of robotics and AI in space applications, to proposal writing (either targeted towards getting European funds or in approaching ESA), these sessions provided entrepreneurs with key tips to be progressing, each in their own field.

As part of the customised services SpaceUp provides, the 10 high level startups (as selected by the independent evaluation committee) were able to have one-to-one meetings with experts on a number of crucial matters, such as going over HR needs solutions, access to finance, or examining cross-technology solutions from space to non-space. All of this was in addition to this Space Academy forming part of the EBAN congress, meaning that the startups were interacting and pitching to an audience of investors and business angels, eager to hear more about the latest in space tech.

Over 500 people attended the international EBAN Helsinki event, with more than 40 delegates participating in the interactive Space Academy sessions and 10 startups selected to get customised services from Space experts and investors.

The next Space Academy will take place on 18-19 November in Bremen, and the Call for space tech entrepreneurs is currently open. See for more details and to apply.
