Our first Space Academy is here and its taking place in Helsinki, Finland on 3rd-4th June,  embedded into the EBAN annual congress.  Here you have the experts that will be supporting the participants with advice on relevant subjects such as intellectual property, cross-fertilisation, technology transfer, financing, funding options and business model development:

 

Andrea Boffi
Senior EU Project Officer, IBS Consulting

 
Senior EU Project Officer of IBS Consulting, with 10+ year of experience in writing and managing EU direct funds. He is also working as consultant for several private and public institutions. During his career he has been awarded for different European projects in the security and defense sector, with a wide-experience in aviation projects at EU level. Previous to his current position he worked in the lobbying sector for two private companies, specialized in influencing the decision-making process in Brussels. European Affairs Professional extremely active in the Brussels environment, he owns a MSc in Financial Economics and a Professional Master in EU funds


Anthony Clarke
Co-Founder and Director of Seraphim Space Fund and Director of Newable Private Investing/Newable Ventures, EBAN President Emeritus
 
Co-Founder/Director of £30m Seraphim Capital VC Fund and £67m Seraphim Space VC Fund. Director of Newable Private Investing and Newable Ventures (formerly London Business Angels/LBA Ventures). Chairman of EBAN Space. Co-Founder and Past Chair of UK's Business Angels Association. President Emeritus of European Business Angel Network. Qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Secretary at Deloitte Haskins & Sells (now PWC).

 








 
Candace Johnson
Satellite Serial Entrepreneur, Angel Investor, and EBAN President Emeritus
 
Masters Degrees with Honors from the Sorbonne and Stanford Universities, and a Bachelors Degree from Vassar College. On November 12th, 2016, she was awarded a Doctor Honoris Causa from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She was recently elected as President Emeritus of EBAN, the European Business Angel and Early-Stage Investment Network after having served two consecutive mandates of two years each from 2014 - 2018. Under her EBAN presidency, Ms. Johnson was the Co-Founder of ABAN, African Business Angels Network and MBAN, MENA Business Angels Network as well as EBAN Space, EBAN Energy and the Global Business Angels Network (GBAN).



Elena Giglio
Expert on EU R&I funding opportunities and Innovation manager
 
Has a degree on Planning and Management of Tourism Systems and a Executive MBA Masters. She worked for 7 years in APRE, where the Ministry of Research and Education (MIUR) in Italy as National Contact Point appointed her for Horizon 2020 on SMEs and Space. During her work experience in APRE, she managed more than 10 international projects to contribute to the successful implementation of projects both for technical and managerial activities. The projects focused on Technology Transfer and Internationalization, International/extra EU cooperation on R&I and Coordination and Support Action projects”. She has recently embarked on a PhD at the Polytechnic of Turin.



Eleonora Lombardi
Technology Transfer and Integrated Applications Officer at the Research Consortium Hypatia.
 
Graduated in International Relations, with a specialisation in International Space Law and Policy, she also holds a second Master’s Degree in Economic Intelligence. Eleonora collaborated with the University of Edinburgh and the University of Paris Sud after being awarded a scholarship. In Paris, she joined the Strategy Department of the European Space Agency and Eurisy, a non-profit association of European space agencies to support satellite applications’ end users. Currently, she is in charge of defining cross fertilisation activities, scouting new and innovative funding opportunities and supporting the quality of projects by Italian companies applying to the programs in the frame of the New Space Economy.

 




 

Erik Steinhofel
Head of Competence Center for Knowledge Management (CCKM) - Fraunhofer IPK Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology, Berlin.

Studied Industrial Engineering with the specialization Innovation Management at the University of Applied Sciences Berlin and the University of Technology, Sydney. He leads the Competence Center for Knowledge Management (CCKM) at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology Berlin and is an expert for knowledge management, strategic planning, and innovation management. Supporting a wider variety of organizations and developing management methodologies in the frame of several public and industrial projects across Europe, Asia, and South America he refined his expertise in these fields. Nowadays, his main research focus is on business model development in small and medium-sized enterprises.

 


 

Fabio Pasinetti

Senior Financial Analyst – IBS Consulting
 
Graduated in Bank and Finance at University of Brescia, Italy. In IBS Consulting he deals with  analysis and financial plan for start ups and SMEs. He is expert in early warning systems for the business crisis, economic analysis based on business risk and in banking analysis for calculating credit risk. He took part in development and design of several pilot projects related to economic analysis software. During his career he has supported companies (start ups, large and SMEs) in the optimization of financial management processes.

Ivo Remmelg

A venture partner at Superherocapital
 
Venture partner for Superherocapital and is based in Tallinn. He is an experienced serial entrepreneur, angel investor, author and also serves as ESTBAN, Romivo.com and Ridango.com board member, EBAN Space Executive board member and as ESA BIC mentor. Before joining Superherocapital he was involved with Startupwiseguys accelerator and Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol.

 


Jan-Patrick Cap

Head of the Competence Center Competence Center for Innovation Systems and Structures (CCIS) at Fraunhofer IPK, Berlin.
 
Holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering from RWTH Aachen University and Tsinghua University Beijing, as well as Business Administration from Collège des Ingénieurs Paris. His work experience includes the setting-up of innovation policies, as well as planning and implementation of innovation parks and institutes throughout Europe, USA, Brazil, UAE, and China. He is currently supporting European Space Start-ups in delivering a viable product and is creating innovation strategies with a Brazilian manufacturing company.

 

Kathrin Hiβ-Baudach

International Implementation Manager, GI Group
 
Kathrin Hiß-Baudach is a HR services expert working in the international headquarters of Gi Group, a world’s leading multinational in HR services based in Milan. Having a university degree in international cultural and business studies she has acquired over 10 years experience in the operative management of HR service projects and the strategic development of HR services; focussing on the understanding of companie’s needs and facing the challenge of recruitment in changing markets. She is privately based in Germany but taking her experience from working at national as well as international level.

 


Kris Vanderhauwaert

Manager of Space 4.0, IBN-Coordinator, EU-Liaison Officer SME4SPACE
 
Graduated in 2000 at the Ghent University with a Master in Political sciences, specialization Public Management. He holds a post-graduate in Communication from Ghent University. In 2004, For more than seven years Kris Vanderhauwaert was the counselor of the Minister of Science Policy where he was responsible for providing policy advice for space, aeronautics, and defense-related matters. In 2011, he joined the European Commission. As Belgian national expert, he was involved in the execution of the European GNSS programs, Galileo and EGNOS. In 2012, Kris became assistant-director at the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics, an international research institute located in Belgium.

 


Lorenzo Scatena

Managing Director of the Fondazione E. Amaldi
 
Graduated at the Faculty of Law of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” where he also obtained his PhD in History and Theory of European Law; and also has a Master of Corporate finance and Management Control from IFAF Business School. Amongst other things he is currently responsible for finance, innovation and relationships with investors and is also a member of the Board of Directors. He was Ambassador of the ESA Business Applications Ambassador Platform for Italy 2017-2018. Since 2008, he is General Director at Research Consortium Hypatia where he developed his background in technology transfer in the field of renewable energies. He teaches Governance Instruments for Technology Transfer at the Master’s of Economic Intelligence at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” where he is Associate Researcher.

Marco Buttolo

Division Manager Aerospace & Defense
 
Marco Buttolo is an experienced sales advisor with a demonstrated working history in Staffing industries. Skilled in HR Consulting, Training, and Recruiting he spent the latest 8 years developing HR solutions for Aerospace and Defense industries. He studied Politics in Italy before moving to several European Countries. Now, he has come back to his homeland. At present, he’s in charge of developing the Aerospace & Defense division, advising and providing customized HR services to Aerospace companies.

Matteo Masserdoti
Founder & CEO at Two Hundred

 
An entrepreneur and hard working individual, passionate about IoT, sharing economy, crowd economy and fintech. He launched Two Hundred in 2013, an Italian fintech company, where amongst other things he is responsible for business analysis, crowdfunding and syndication campaign strategies. He has always followed the evolution of traditional markets into new markets through the application of innovative methods with interests. Nowadays, he is involved in many projects and associations related to innovation in financial markets.

 


Rainer Horn

Managing Partner at SpaceTec Partners
 
Studied at ESB in Reutlingen & London and attained an MBA from INSEAD.  He is also a SpaceTec Capital and a member of several institutional boards in space programs in Europe and Asia. He has experience in (new) space, space applications and the geospatial industry as consultant and investor.  The strategy and management consultancy firm SpaceTec Partners advises its clients on business strategy, technology strategy, user engagement, financing, and international cooperation. SpaceTec Partners has been instrumental in shaping space innovation ecosystems through the development of space funding programs, accelerators, and incubators.  SpaceTec Capital invests in early-stage space and space application companies.

Rosario Pavone

SME4SPACE Project Technical Manager and AIPAS Secretary
 
Holds a Ph.D. in Economic Geography and a post-graduate course in Tourism Economics and Management from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. He also holds a MA in Foreign Literature and Language from University of Catania, Italy. He started to be involved in space activities since 2010 as an in-house consultant of AIPAS (Italian Companies Association for Space Activities) and of SME4SPACE.  He has carried out research activities in different previous research projects at a national and international level, such as H2020. He is an expert of administrative and contracts aspects within ESA, FP7 and Horizon 2020.



Prof. Rudy Aernoudt

Senior Economist, European Commission, Space & financing. Prof. University Ghent, Dept. corporate finance.
 
A Belgian professor, writer, politician, economist, and philosopher. Member of the Chief Economist team of the European Commission. He mainly deals with the economics and economic policy linked to start-ups, growth of companies, entrepreneurship, industrial policy, and space policy. He co-founded EBAN, the European Business Angels network and for entrepreneurs. In April 2013, he became the Head of Cabinet of the President of the European Economic and Social Committee. He is also a visiting professor at Ghent University, teaching various Finance related courses in the programmes Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Public Administration and Management.

 


Dr. Sebastian Bartsch

Team Leader for "Behavioral Control, Simulation, and Evaluation" at the Robotics Innovation Center of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI)
 
As part of his work as a researcher and project manager at the Robotics Innovation Center of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), he successfully completed his doctorate in engineering in 2013. His work focuses on the development and study of complex autonomous robots for mobile manipulation in unstructured and dynamic environments, primarily concerned on system design, control, simulation, and evaluation. From 2013 to 2015, Dr. Bartsch was head of the "Intelligent Kinematics" team at the DFKI Robotics Innovation Center. From 2016 to 2018, he headed the "Behavioral Control, Simulation & Evaluation" team. Since 2019, he is leading the applied artificial intelligence teams for the application areas Space and Mobility.

 



Stephan Reckie

Executive Director, GEN Space
 
Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. He is Executive Director of Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Space, a global ecosystem for Astropreneurs, and serves on the Executive Committee of European Business Angels (EBAN) Space. Co-Founder and CEO of Edge of Space, a company enabling STEM access to space for students globally. He is also the Co-founder and CEO of Angelus Funding, a trust-based global angel network investing in innovative and meaningful opportunities. Prior to Angelus Funding, Stephan served in several international executive roles including COO of DigiLink Software, a China-based embedded video solutions developer, and the Director of North American Sales at India-based Ittiam Systems.
