We will also have a panel session during Paris Space Week "From space to earth: investing in downstream applications" at 11.00 on 9th March.

European Space Ecosystem: Doing Business with ESA

The objective of this workshop is to provide the participants with a comprehensive overview of the European Space Agency’s (ESA) industrial policy and its electronic tendering systems. The presentation will primarily focus on how to write a good technical proposal in response to an ESA ITT. The two main questions, i.e. “What are the elements of a good technical proposal?” and “How to elaborate a good technical proposal?” will be tackled. Participants willing to submit a proposal to ESA will have the opportunity to discuss their project/product/idea with the group and to receive feedback from the other participants.

How to Succeed in Your Crowdfunding Campaign

The workshop will drive the participants through the different categories of crowdfunding in order to understand which type is more appropriate for the company. As a crowdfunding campaign to be successful involves many different activities, we’ll provide an extensive explanation of what is the documentation needed to prepare in advance and the knowledge required. Most of crowdfunding campaign fails because of too much improvisation, so we’ll provide information about planning and related activities. In order to increase the usefulness of the presentation, we’ll provide case studies from successful campaigns in different crowdfunding categories.

The workshop aims to give concrete tips on helping space tech entrepreneurs to improve their business strategy and to present their business to investors in a better way.
All three parts of this frontal module will include discussions on the following topics:
-        The investment and life cycle of an idea/start-up
-        Business modelling and mentoring
-        Where to look for investors
-        How to approach and address investors
-        Different types of investors and how to pitch to them in different ways
-        What is the mindset of early stage investors?
-       What is a Business Angel? How does a Business Angel evaluate a start-up?
This will be followed by a Q&A session where the entrepreneurs attending the workshops can ask specific questions about their business and understand how to improve their situation in order to increase their opportunity to get funded.

The module is intended to educate participants on the importance of the business model concept and on the benefits of applying it in practice. Beyond, established approaches for analyzing and developing an organisation’s business model are outlined and underpinned by real-world cases.
