We recently came across the Global Disability Inclusion, LLC, graphic above on LinkedIn. It's bold, simple and straight to the point. The message aligns with a number of conversations All In Sport continues to have with sport organizations across the country - disability must be included in diversity initiatives.

With all the social unrest that erupted last summer, it's been interesting to watch so many organizations, including those in the sport industry, hire Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) executives, and create corporate initiatives and committees focused on various DEI benchmarks. Our hope is that these plans are authentic and sustainable in order to be the most effective in providing much-needed progress.

As you work and collaborate with various sport entities in your community, be sure that their DEI initiatives include disability. As disability sport leaders, it's important to ensure athletes with disabilities have a seat at the table and are a part of any organization's DEI plan.

Share Your Thoughts. Have you found that organizations you work with are inclusive and engaging the disability sport community? Are they making sure athletes with disabilities are supported, involved and engaged in their DEI plans? Use the social media links below to share your feedback and ideas.

Industry Roundup

Congratulations to the organizations below who are working to build inclusive sport opportunities.
  • Adaptive Adventures is now hosting a virtual sport program in Spanish. If you know someone who would benefit from participating, check out the program link and register.
  • Join the Institute for the Study of Sport, Society and Social Change on March 11 for Sport Conversations for Change - Equitable Futures for Womxn in Sport, celebrating all things Womxn with Womxn’s History Month and a reflection on International Women’s Day and National Girls and Women in Sports Day. We are honored to be a part of this conversation and look forward to bringing the topic of disability and Womxn in Sport to the forefront. Women have and continue to make tremendous contributions in sport as participants, leaders, influencers, decision makers, advocates and activists. However, persistent pre-existing social and systemic barriers remain for women, and even more so for women and girls with disabilities. Additional panelists include:
    • Jenny Lim, Program Manager at Canadian Women & Sport
    • Danielle Slaton, Director of External Relations - Santa Clara University
  • Nike and Toyota take athletes with disabilities mainstream through products and high-visibility commercials. How great would it be to see more of these powerful messages from major corporations on a regular basis?
Are you or your organization doing something innovative in the adaptive sport movement? We want to share it with the All In Sport community. Please send details as to how you are leading cutting edge initiatives so we can highlight your efforts in an upcoming Industry Roundup!
