The Engine Room

As the pandemic rolls on we’ve had time to think about how we develop our games. Most of the games we currently have in development are for 3 to 6 players and obviously with the current social distancing rules that makes play testing almost impossible except over Tabletop Simulator. Although Tabletop Simulator is better than nothing, it still has a number of limits when compared to playing face to face.

In light of that, I’m trying to come up with ideas for two player games and so far I’ve come up with an “Avalon Hill” style war game that features resources management, worker placement and engine building. But that didn’t seem to fit with the sort of games that I want to put out through East Street Games, so I’ve shelved that for the time being.

I then created a two player Gangster game, but that felt way too “dark” to be an East Street Game. So, I’m currently working on a more light hearted pick up and deliver game that’s showing some promise. Liam and I will be playtesting this later this week.

Behind the Curtain

So, as we are in the middle of producing Mob Sitters, I thought I’d explain how we’re getting it produced and how far along production is.

While the Mob Sitters Kickstarter showed that there was certainly demand for the game, it didn’t take off in the way we had originally hoped. So we decided to get a run produced in the UK. The various game components will be produced by different companies so that our costs are kept as low as possible.

  1. Boxes have the longest lead time and take around four weeks to be produced, the manufacturer started work on them a few weeks ago so these are on scheldule to be ready soon.
  2. The Cards were produced a while ago and are waiting in our fulfilment partners warehouse.
  3. Playmats and Rules have just been sent to the printer as we have been checking them, testing them and rechecking them etc. They should only take around one to two weeks.

Hopefully we should have all the components at our distribution partners warehouse in a couple of weeks and we’ve been told it should only take about a week to assemble and shrink wrap them. So, we should be easily on target to be releasing the game in September this year! Exciting!

I know it has been a long journey to get Mob Sitters out and I’m so grateful for everyone’s support and encouragement.

Happy Gaming
