Happiness is right around the corner
The other day Alice and I (Alan) went kayaking in our inflatable two-person kayak, appropriately named “tipsy”. This day we chose a portion of the Huron River between Milford, Michigan, and Proud Lake. It’s a meandering waterway, winding around crooks and corners, leaving one wondering what direction the current is even running.
As we leisurely paddled our way through a beautiful afternoon, we came around a corner and happened upon an old man with a little dog on a leash standing at the water’s edge. It was almost as if he was waiting for us. As we came into his sight, he yells out to us . . . “Hey, did I ever tell you the one about two old women who went to church?”
We looked at the old man in surprise; we had never seen him before. We bit. “No, you haven’t told us this one.”
The man replied . . . “Two old women went to church services one Sunday and afterwards the first said to the other, ‘You know, midway through the sermon my butt fell asleep.’ The other woman replied, ‘Yes I know. I heard it snore three times.’”
Alice and I looked at each other and just laughed. Where did that come from? Did he do that to everyone on the river?
