This is a short message to let you know that vaccinations will be carried out at the Home this week on Wednesday afternoon for residents and staff.
We understand the second doses will be given in around 11 weeks time but will confirm that as soon as we know for sure. This would mean those vaccinated would be fully protected by the end of March (it takes around 10 days after the second dose before individuals have the maximum level of protection from the vaccine).
It is not known for sure whether the vaccine only stops the person vaccinated from becoming ill from Covid or whether it stops you being infected, and potentially passing the infection to someone else. We do not yet have any guidance on whether vaccination will change what we do at the Home, for example when we can reduce the amount of PPE we use or change our visiting policy. We would be interested to know if any of you are able to get vaccinated as we hope we will be able to take this into account in visiting risk assessments at some stage.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch.
