  • Companions of the Cross: Happy Foundation Day to the Companions of the Cross! The COVID-19 restrictions in place meant canceling plans for the CCs Halifax Foundation to celebrate the 9am Mass (on livestream) together this morning. The Companions of the Cross appreciate your prayers and support for their ministry. If you haven't' before, please visit their website here. With sadness we also share that both parents of our former pastor, Fr. Ken Lau, passed away from COVID-19 in the Philippines earlier this week. A funeral Mass for Fr. Ken's parents will be live-streamed from St. Mary's parish in Ottawa on Friday, May 14th at 10pm.

  • Pentecost Novena: As Fr. Bryan shared in Sunday's homily, all are invited to pray a Novena to the Holy Spirit in the lead up to the Feast of Pentecost (May 23rd). Beginning on May 14th, right up until the 22nd, we will share a video of someone from the parish leading the prayer for each day on our YouTube channel. We are also planning a special (online) event to celebrate the feast of the Holy Trinity on Saturday, May 29th. Stay tuned for further details on that in the days and weeks ahead. Please note that in compliance with current restrictions, only five people were allowed access into the building to film the Pentecost novena videos.

  • Virtual Pilgrimage to the Holy Land: Have you ever wished to travel or return to the Holy Land? Well, there is an excellent 6-part series on FORMED that takes you to those places via video. It costs you nothing (Holy Trinity parish has a subscription to FORMED) and you can remain safe and comfortable in your favourite chair. Madelane Chiasson of our parish visited the Holy Land in November, 2019 with a pilgrimage led by Fr. John Likosar, CC Ottawa and LOVED it! She invites you to view the series with her each Friday night starting at 7pm on May 14th. If you are interested in making this virtual pilgrimage, please email Madelane at pilgrim_devotions@yahoo.com and she will send you a Zoom link. Along with the video, there will be additional information and time for questions. We hope to "see" you there!

  • National Week for Life and the Family - May 9-15: This Sunday marks the beginning of the National Week for Life and Family. From May 9th to 15th Catholics across Canada are encouraged to reflect on the gift of life and how our faith is lived in and through our families. This year's theme is: Family, the Domestic Church: A Sign of Hope and Life. The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops offers prayers, activities and other resources to help celebrate this special week.

  • Global Prayer Marathon: Pope Francis is inviting Catholics around the world to take part in a global rosary prayer initiative. We're asked to pray the rosary every day in May to seek Mary's intercession to end the global pandemic. Thirty Marian shrines from various parts of the world will host live-streamed recitations of the rosary. These are available on the Vatican News Youtube channel every day at 1pm.

  • March Revenues: The parish revenue numbers for the month of March are now available on the Give page of our parish website. Thanks for your ongoing generosity towards the mission and vision of Holy Trinity Parish.
Please forward this email to anyone who may not yet be a subscriber and encourage them to visit our website and sign up to receive First 5 in their inbox every two weeks.
