April 2, 2021 - Showcasing SLA's StoryMap
Dear Friends of Skaneateles Lake-

Wishing you all a pleasant holiday weekend. Hoping you will enjoy perusing the new StoryMap recently created by SLA's inaugural and former Executive Director Rachael DeWitt. During some down time between completing her graduate work at Scripps University and starting up with the Knauss Fellowship Program, Rachael very kindly offered her expertise in building the StoryMap highlighted below. Thank you Rachael!

The StoryMap is a wonderful way to explore many of the areas that SLA has been recently active. We hope you find it as valuable as many of us have already.
A few related updates from SLA as well:
  • participated in a kickoff meeting marking forward movement the development of Skaneateles Lake's 9 Element Plan
  • working with Onondaga County Soil & Water Conservation District on planning for management of Hemlock Woolly Adelgid
  • readying proposals to support more watershed improvement projects
Upcoming events:
  • Next week we will be launching promotions for the Lake Friendly Living Awareness week hosted by the Lake Friendly Living Coalition of the Finger Lakes in which SLA is a member of.
  • Finger Lakes Land Trust is hosting a webinar titled “RE-PLUMBING” ROADSIDE DITCHES: WATER QUALITY EVENT" featuring a presentation Dr. Rebecca Schneider, Professor in the Department of Natural Resources & the Environment at Cornell University.

Thanks for staying connected and for all your continued support!

Kindest regards,

Frank Moses
Executive Director
