Cultivating Empathy: President G. Gabrielle Starr in conversation with Rabbi Sharon Brous Senior and Founding Rabbi, IKAR
Tuesday November 17, 4:30PM

Rabbi Sharon Brous is the senior and founding rabbi of IKAR which launched in 2004 with the goal of reinvigorating Jewish tradition and practice and inspiring people of faith to reclaim a moral and prophetic voice. IKAR, one of the fastest growing and most influential Jewish congregations in the country, is credited with sparking a rethinking of religious life in a time of unprecedented disaffection and declining affiliation. Brous’s TED talk, “Reclaiming Religion,” has been viewed by more than one million people and translated into 14 languages. She is recognized as a leader in in multi-faith social justice work both in Los Angeles and around the nation.

The Pomona College Presidential Dialogues bring together distinguished speakers working around our nation to share narratives that are often marginalized and to bring people together in dialogue with empathy and understanding. The series will include one-on-one conversations between President G. Gabrielle Starr and Professor Eddie S. Glaude, Jr. (Princeton University), Rabbi Sharon Brous (IKAR) and Imam Khalid Latif (NYU), concluding with a community panel discussion in the spring.

This event is free and open to the public. Register now to reserve your spot. Visit the Pomona College website for more information and to add to your calendar.

Sikh Student Association
Welcome to the Claremont Colleges SSA! We strive to help create a community for Sikh Students at the 5Cs and to participate in Seva, Simran, Sangat, and Academics together. Join our group to keep up with the work we are doing on our campus and beyond!
SGI Buddhism
We are members of the Claremont Graduate University (CGU) community, contributing to the creation of a culture of peace and nonviolence based on the teachings of the Nichiren school of Mahayana Buddhism as practiced in the Soka Gakkai International-USA (SGI-USA). We aim to cultivate a network of friendship to support and encourage our fellow students to enjoy fulfilling, happy lives that brim with hope for the future.
SGI is a Buddhist network that actively promotes peace, culture, and education through personal exchange and social contribution. SGI members embrace Nichiren Buddhism, a dynamic philosophy grounded in the realities of daily life. This Buddhist practice leads to empowerment and inner transformation or "human revolution" which enables individuals to take responsibility for their lives and contribute to building a world where people of diverse cultures and faiths can live in peace.
