This Week...
In this week's newsletter we are sharing weekly events and services provided by the Chaplains and student organizations! As we prepare for Election Day, the Chaplains wanted to share a religious perspective on voting. In the next few weeks, each Chaplains will highlight religious texts that speak of the importance of voting. The Chaplaincy would like to encourage you to use your voice and cast your vote this election year!
Voting Resources
What the Torah Teaches on Voting
צֶ֥דֶק צֶ֖דֶק תִּרְדֹּ֑ף - Justice, justice shall you pursue, that you may thrive and inherit the land that the Adonai your God is giving you” (Deuteronomy 16:20). These words from the Torah teach us that justice is the foundation for society to receive blessings and to thrive. In the United States of America, one of the ways we can have the most impact on pursuing justice is by voting in local, state, and federal elections. This Election Day we must all play our part in seeking justice by voting for candidates, measures, and propositions that we believe will further the cause of justice. Through our participation in the democratic process, we can bring about greater justice in the world and open up more possibilities for all in our society to receive blessings.

Muslim Student Association
The Claremont Colleges Muslim Students Association seeks to provide a support system and a sense of community for students of Muslim background and faith at the Claremont Colleges. Our events seek to highlight the rich cultural aspects of the various Islamic traditions from around the world, and to allow a safe space for Muslim students to express their faith, but also be themselves. We also aim to increase awareness about Islam and Muslims through interfaith activities. MSA organizes a variety of social, cultural, educational, religious and interfaith events. These include Iftars, Eid dinners, guest speakers, and field trips. Jumuah Prayer is held most Fridays.

First,Love
First, love seeks to grow a community of students at the Claremont Colleges that knows God’s love, loves Him and His Word, and shares that love with the campuses. We believe Jesus has called us to learn to live radically different lives that love God and our neighbors. We host weekly Bible Studies and Discipleship Training Groups for students to learn to follow Jesus by studying Scripture, pursuing God’s mission together, and growing in community. We also encourage students of all religions and backgrounds to join our Exploring Christianity Groups to explore and discuss the claims of Christianity and also to join us in our pursuit of justice in our world. Please consider joining us for our Fall 2020 Kick-off Webinar Event on September 10, 2020 5PM PST where we will be learning and discussing the topic of justice from a Christian perspective and welcoming everyone back to school. All are welcome to join!
