I’ve made the first big update to Goldenbook since I released it in 2003, with a variety of new features including three new weights (Extrabold, Heavy, and Black), support for Cyrillic, new alternate glyphs, and lots of under-the-hood improvements. People who previously licensed the existing styles are eligible for free updates for those styles. Check with the place you purchased the license from.
I've also made a major update to the Refrigerator type family, the second since I first released it in 2000. The new version includes a new weight (Extrabold) and Cyrillic support, as well as extensive improvements to things like spacing, kerning, hinting, and overall letterform quality. People who previously licensed the existing styles are eligible for free updates for those styles. Check with the place you purchased the license from.
Each year, the Society of Typographic Aficionados recognizes a young individual who shows achievement and future promise with the Catalyst Award. This year I’ll be serving on the judging committee along with James Edmondson, Nadine Chahine, Ann Chen, and Jason Pamental. Submissions for the award are due March 16.
Speaking of SoTA, their annual TypeCon events are happening in Minneapolis this summer, just across the Mississippi River from my studio. I’ll be helping out as a member of the local advisory group, as well as sponsoring and attending. The call for programming proposals is open until March 16th.
