Anyone can dress up a home and make it look great, either to put in on the market or for pride-of-ownership. Who doesn’t want a nice upgrade, right?
Before undertaking a remodel, however, it’s essential to assess the structural elements of your home. Any structural repairs should be priority number one, BEFORE spending significant money on any remodel.
But, how do you know if your house has a structural issue, or if it’s historic and of no concern? An experienced home inspector can give you great perspective. A contractor can also provide helpful insight, but can also conduct and bid repairs. A structural engineer can assess, pinpoint the issue, give perspective, and specify the necessary repairs which contractors then implement.
If you’re unsure about your home’s structure in any way, consult with any of these professionals if, for no other reason, than peace-of-mind.
