Panther Press

Week of December 14th

SA Prep Families,

December is in full swing and we have been working hard and having a ton of fun these last couple of weeks. Thanks to all of our families that have come out and helped us create some amazing memories. We have just a couple more days until winter break and the hard work and fun won't stop. We have our second interim assessment tests until Wednesday and have our holiday parties on Friday.

It is our continued wish that this month is one filled with peace, joy, love and continued safety.

We are....#SAPREP!

Ready for Success, Daily Attendance

Champions should be logged in or at school everyday by 7:45 AM. The class will start promptly at 8:00 am. Attendance is a major part of our school funding and allows us the opportunity to provide more for our champions. Also, when champions are in class they are learning.

Staff Spotlight
Kicking off our Staff Spotlight is our newest addition to the Panther team, Coach Smith! She is our new PE teacher and Athletic Coordinator. Coach Devin will work alongside her and continue to support both PE and athletics.
Tamara Smith, our new Physical Education Coach and Athletic Coordinator was born in Corpus Christi, TX. Coach Smith spent her childhood here in San Antonio, TX; graduating from MacArthur High School earning a full athletic scholarship to UTSA, where she attended for two years before she decided to pursue her dream of attending an HBCU. Coach Smith earned a basketball scholarship to complete her studies in Hospitality Management. After graduating from Huston-Tillotson University she went on to play professional basketball in Atlanta, GA and Beijing China. Coach Smith has a great life story and the best way to find out more is getting to know her. You can find her outdoors where she enjoys fishing, biking, camping, kayaking and hiking but not too high because she is afraid of heights. Overall she is passionate about creating opportunities for youth and those in need.

School Safety

San Antonio Prep considers the health and well-being of our students and staff to be of the utmost importance.

We will continue to practice our COVID screenings, mask wearing, outdoor breaks, social distancing when possible and frequent sanitizing. We also have a day and night crew to support with deep cleaning. In addition we have also begun:

  • Limit class sizes to a max of 18 students (3 per table)
  • Staggered breaks
  • All meals in the classroom (including breakfast)
Change will not come if we wait for some other person, or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.
