As we approach the end of March, we can reflect on what has been a very difficult month for many. I have heard from many of you who have emailed and phoned my office. You’ve expressed your concerns about paying this month’s rent or mortgage. You shared ideas and suggestions on how we can serve Ontarians during this time of crisis. You’ve also been kind enough to share your messages of support and hope. I’m so thankful to have all your voices guiding me as we serve you during these trying times. York South – Weston has always shown itself to be a resilient community, and I expect nothing less in the coming weeks.
I want to thank the tireless efforts of our front line healthcare and personal support workers, many of whom live right here in York South – Weston. They wake up every day, leaving concerned family at home, and place themselves in harms way in service of our province.
For parents, it’s been a time of confusion and uncertainty with regards to their children’s education. The Ontario Government recently confirmed that school will not be returning on April 5th as originally planned. Keeping the little ones busy has posed a challenge for some. I would encourage everyone to lookup online learning resources provided the Ministry of Education HERE. It provides an opportunity to keep young minds engaged and learning until greater clarity is provided about this school year.
To our small business community, please know that we will continue to fight on your behalf for the resources and support you deserve. I know you’ve invested more than just financial wealth in your business, and this community. I will continue to advocate for your support.
I’ve provided resource links for all three levels of government below. Should you have any questions, my office is always here to help at 416-243-7984 or at email@example.com.
One final note. As we focus on social distancing and efforts to protect our physical health, I urge you to remember that the mental health of yourself and your family should be top of mind as well. These can be stressful times, but there is help available. Please find information on how we can manage stress and anxiety at https://www.camh.ca/en/health-info/mental-health-and-covid-19.
Take care and wash your hands.
