Hey there Feel Good Tribe! ☺️♥️

So I wanted to send out this newsletter on April 1st and pretend I was going to stop being vegan. 😜 But I knew it would never work on you. hehe

There was a time, about a decade ago, when this April Fool’s trick worked liked a charm on unsuspecting friends and followers. Oh what fun that was! Getting shocked messages from gullible souls and proudly sniggering at my own brilliance.

One friend even called me up trying to convince me to stay vegan. I let him go on for about 45 minutes before I got bored and told him it was all a prank. 😈 He was so relieved, he wasn’t even angry. bahahaha

Another one of my favourite April Fool’s Day social media memories is from back when I used to make jewellery and clay miniatures and sell them on Etsy. I created a Facebook post saying how I was going to give it all up because creativity was taking up too much of my time from... being a good housewife and doing my chores. 🤣

Even now when I think of that it gives me uncontrollable giggles. Of course most of my artist friends saw the joke for what it was and piped in with their own witty comments. But some peeps totally succumbed! Fun times.

My most successful prank however went way out of hand!

So a couple of years after joining Carrots (that was my vegan restaurant for those of you who might not know), I posted on a large India based vegans group on Facebook that we would be opening branches all across the country.

What an elaborate scheme that was! I put so much thought into it and even created an eye catching poster to go along with the “announcement”. The poster mentioned a bunch of tier one cities in the country where Carrots would be opening immediately and went on to list a bunch of tier two cities under the “coming up next” category.

It. Went. Viral.

Like, within an hour people not only shared it on Facebook, but took screenshots and started spreading it around on Whatsapp groups too! 😱 Before I knew it, I’d lost complete control of things. I frantically tried to undo the damage. I updated the post, responded to comments (and a whole bunch of private messages) saying it was an April Fool’s Prank.

Oh HOW people cursed me after that! Everyone’s hopes had gone wayyyyy up and now the dreams came crashing down. *sheepish face*

Want to know the icing on the cake? About a MONTH later, one of our guests from Whitefield visited the restaurant for a meal. As she was leaving, she came up to me at the billing counter with an annoyed expression and asked, “why’re you opening branches in other cities? You should first open one in Whitefield and other areas of Bangalore!”

Apparently she’s received the original “announcement” on a Whatsapp group, but nobody had bothered to clarify later that it was all a joke. 🤦🏽‍♀️ So all those weeks she’d continued to believe we were opening up branches across India and was secretly cursing us for not choosing Whitefield instead. Hehehe

She was the only one who was actually happy when I told her the truth. 😅

I gave up on April Fool’s tricks on social media entirely after that. I mean, nothing’s ever going to be able to top that one, right?! 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading all the way. I hope the stories gave you a good laugh.

I would love to hear your most memorable April Fool’s Stories, regardless of whether you were the prankster or the prankstee. 😁 Hit reply and share!

Since my last newsletter, we’ve had a bunch of new people sign up for the tribe. (Welcome lovelies, it’s so good to have you join us. ☺️)

Also, the podcast has three awesome new episodes.

Episode 58 features my friend Manasa who’s doing wonderful work on the health and wellness front. You’ll be amazed at her personal transformation.

The power of clean eating, women’s health, positive energy, mindfulness and more with Manasa Rajan

Episode 59 is a unique episode where I was the interviewee and my friend Shilpa was the host. We discussed a whole bunch of topics geared at helping women entrepreneurs.

When Life Gives You Lemons – Mindfulness, Joyfulness and Being You

Episode 60 features the freakin’ awesome Marsha! I throughly enjoyed interviewing her and listening to all her wildly wonderful ideas.

Story Telling, Future Love Notes and Day Dreaming with Yes Yes Marsha

Once you listen to any of these, let me know how they made you feel and what ideas you took away from them.

Before I sign off, I’d like to ask you for a favour.

If you run a conscious business or work for one, I could use your inputs. I’m building my next online program for Heart Centered Entrepreneurs and I’d like to understand more about the challenges you’re facing. This way I can fine tune the lessons to help more people.

Please fill in this short survey, it’ll take 8-10 minutes of your time.

A few of you have already filled it up after seeing my Instagram post last evening. You’re so awesome! 🥰

Thanks to your inputs, I’m already feeling validated that I’m on the right track with the program, I’ve got ideas for new content to add, and most importantly, I have more clarity on whom the program can and cannot help. So I really appreciate your thoughts.

Alright sweet people, catch you in the next newsletter.

Have a beautiful, fun, purpose filled month!

with love and light,
Susmitha :)
