UPCOMING  UNITED METHODIST WOMEN EVENTS

  • Saturday, August 3:  Social Action Seminar and Workshop, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Centerville UMC (600 N. Houston Lake Blvd, Centerville, GA)  Cost $20.  This registration fee covers lunch and supplies to assemble kits for school nurses.  Deadline to register is July 22.  (Make your check out to Americus FUMC UMW and get it to Jan Bird or Willie Maxwell.
    • One seminar is on "Pipeline to Prison.
    • Another seminar is on "Children in Poverty and the Effects of Poverty on Children"
    • There will be a workshop where participants will make kits for school nurses.
    • They are collecting new or "gently used" stuffed animals for Vashti and the Methodist Children's Home.
    • A nursery may be a possibility upon request.
  • Saturday, August 10:  Mission Study.  Topic:  "What About Our Money?"  The host church is Epworth UMC in Columbus.  Registration starts at 9:30 a.m.
    • They will be collecting small fishing and sewing kits to support the Alaska Conference, where such items are very expensive and unaffordable for many. Clean prescription bottles are needed for these kits.  Contact the church office to get more details on what is needed and the sizes.  If you cannot attend, monetary donations to purchase supplies and cover costs of shipping are also appreciated.
