Do you feel you are running like a headless chicken towards Christmas preparations?
No matter how hard we try, we sometimes feel it is not going to be perfect.
And you know what? It does not need to be perfect. This is an expectation that we set up for ourselves. And the level of stress that this entails makes it quite difficult to enjoy the preparations and also the celebrations themselves.
|
|
How about we set up a “Less perfection more connection”
kind of target for ourselves, for our families … and go through the preparations with less stress and more joy?
When we are stressed, we release cortisol, and cortisol wants to fill the blood with sugar. Sugar brings inflammation in the gut, which means inflammation in the brain. This means "brain fog", "memory loss", we are not performing well and our immunity is reduced. We do not need this.

If you love the holidays but the worries, the rushes and the aiming for perfection are stressing you out, use aromas to help.

Use your sense of smell to de-activate stress ...
👉 Smell – one of our most basic, primitive senses – is 10,000 times more sensitive than any other. The olfactory bulb is the only place in the body where the central nervous system is exposed to the environment. Hence our brain is designed to use aroma to heal and soothe itself, shifting our perspective, changing our vibe and helping us with physical ailments.
👉 When we use our senses, like the sense of smell, we re-focus in the present, in the "here and now". Our senses can only operate in the present. This way we de-activate the stress mechanisms and make better decisions, without sugar 😉.
👉 What aromas trigger good memories for you during the Holiday season? ... for me is orange 🍊!
Orange is sunshine in a bottle. Uplifting, stimulating, energising. Ideal to fight seasonal threats. It blends easily with so many essential oils.
Play with the aromas of Clove, Cinnamon, Ginger, Pine, or Nutmeg and come up with a warm Christmassy blend for your diffuser.
Added bonus => immunostimulant, antiviral & antibacterial 💪
👉 Essential oils trigger a hormonal cascade of signals to the different parts of the body creating powerful healing responses. Our body is working with us, for us, to restore balance.

Homemade immune boosting Ginger Tea
- Slice organic fresh ginger.
- Add water to sauce pan and bring to a boil.
- Add the fresh ginger and reduce heat to a simmer.
- Sometimes I add a cinnamon stick or two to the water as it boils for the added flavour.
- Strain tea and discard ginger pieces.
- Wait for the water to cool down: if you are able to place your pinky inside the water without burning yourself it is the time to add the Manuka honey and Lemon.
Note: If the honey is mixed when the water is boiling, you are burning it and transforming it into sugar, killing all the benefits.
This recipe is rich with antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and detoxifying properties. It improves blood circulation and relieves congestions making it ideal for winter months.

Looking for a fun and fragrant gift to give to family and friends?
Give them the pleasure of an aromatic experience and the opportunity to create their own “Natural Perfume” from essential oils.
Essential oils are a natural alternative for a perfume with "added benefits". When applied on wrists, neck and heart, they stay for many hours on our skin allowing us to take deep breaths along the day and get more energy, hormonal balance, reduction of stress levels, and so much more...
